It's Arafat's own organization that's conducting the bombings. His military wing has claimed responsibility for over half of the sucide bombings. So condemning the bombings is all show, just so that we'll feel sorry for him. Tell me again why we're supporting this terrorist organization?

Great points. A Little less talk and a LOT more action.

<< Since it was NOT released on Palestinian Radio or Television (what a shocker) none of his own people heard it. >>

It probably will be, with the small addition to his statement saying, "... get it right next time, you have to kill more than 6 people when you become a martyr for Allah!"

Yep, Arafat has perfected the art of talking out the side of his mouth, something that seems to be the rage among all leaders in the Middle East. What's unique about this though is the fact that they couldn't even get him to lie about it before.

<< And no action has been taken by him. Condemning is only half the battle now lets see him take steps to back up his so called "words" >>

And what would you like him to do? He's still holed up in his compound(or what remains of it) by Israel, so I fail to see what he can do besides use words.

To improve the situation there is one thing he could do while holed up in his compoud. Take a gun and blow his brains out. However I don't think he's considering that option..too bad.

Something that small he would probably miss.

I still think we should arrange a meeting between Arafat and Sharon, stick a couple of packages of C4 up Sharon's butt (there should be plenty of room) and then detonate them when the two are in the room together. It would be an ironic end for both of the main obstacles for peace in that region.

What good did he do before he found himself holed up in the compound?

In Gaza, Arafat's security force is intact, untouched by the Israeli incursion. He could give them direct orders to stop helping and funding the terrorists.

Words are just a first step. Lets see if he backs them up with real action.

This is a non starter. Yassar capitulated JUST to appease the US demand and save face for Powell's failed trip to try for a cease fire. Powell has failed so far, and the Palistenians do not respect him or any thing other than complete destruction of Israel. If any of you expect anything long lasting to come from this denunciation, my advice is don't hold your breath.

Yassar Arafat is a terrorist,a liar, a scum bag Ahole who is funding and promoting suicide bombing. He has called for support in this cause from all his Arab neighbors. Saudia Arabia holds a Jerry Lewis like telethon to raise money for the palestinian cause. You watch and see where the money goes. Try bomb making equipment and recruitment for more suicide bombers.

Sunday nite, come back here and tell us all the wonderful things that come from this meeting.

Who just got ois ass kicked and is facing his last chance. If he blows it this time there's nothing anyone can do to save his pathetic self. If come Sunday there is another bombing that won't necessarily mean that he's behind it, it will mean that those who are in charge of the terrorist campaign only took orders from Arafat when the orders were the ones they wanted.

The only way you can convince Arafat to do anything is if you threaten him. If I were Secratary of State, I would tell Arafat that the Israelis will be given the green light to kill you if you don't stop promoting, financing, and directing terror. That would really get his attention.

>>>...it will mean that those who are in charge of the terrorist campaign only took orders from Arafat when the orders were the ones they wanted. <<<

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Arrafat is a spokesman for the peole but the terrorist's like Hamas and Al Asqua and the intifada groups are the ones who are rerally controling the action there and determining the outcome for Palastenian people. It is those people that we should not be negotiating with, yet we are now (against my strongest sense of principle) negotiating with Yassar, a known financial and amoral supporter of these insane suicide attacks by palestinian children.(yes, if they are 20 year old girls and 18 year old boys, they are children, recruited under special circumstance by these heathon jackels called Hamas and the like).

But after Arafat?s statement, the Islamic militant group Hamas insisted it would continue anti-Israeli attacks. ?We have the full right to react without any limitation against the state terrorism of Israel,? spokesman Ismail Abu Shanab said.

edit...

A top Arafat aide, Hassan Abdel Rahman, said in Washington that Arafat wanted to cooperate with Powell, but would like the Bush administration to condemn the Israeli military?s actions against Palestinian civilians. Palestinians allege many civilians have been killed in the massive Israeli operation to wipe out militant networks in the West Bank.

The above will be the excuse these radicals will use to justify more bombing.

Big deal. Too little, too late, and he's in no position to do anything about it anymore. This means nothing as Arafat well knows.

Arafat should have had Bush condemn israel for their slaughtering before condemning the bombings.
