Where i work i can get bout 50 bucks off retail price of one of those NewQ Platinum drives.. now i dont *NEED* it, heh. its just cool looking and i might use some of the features. I was wondering if any of the members had one or used one and what experiences they had...

The only internet retailer I have seen is Outpost. It's 200+ dollars. Do you still want it now?

Edit: Oops I guess it's not as expensive now 🙂

hey neuralfx,
is that the Newq platinum or one of the gold series?

can you tell me how much you're getting them for, i always wanted to get one

bigrash, he is talking about the Platinum. And check the price at CompUSA, they have the best so far.

Hey Everybody that wants one. CompUSA will have the Platinum on sale starting sunday, for 130.00

I just checked the compUSA link and they already have them at that price, but I guess it is sunday already.

cool, and i was actually thinking of buying it a couple weeks ago. i had put up a thread and nobody replied so i ended up not getting it.

the only problem now is that the only remaining 5 1/2 bay that i have remaining doesn't fit a full length device. it hits the motherboard

heh thats funny that yall mention hell (compusa) as i work there... im a tech heh, yes im getting it at cost for $115, but, is it worth it?..

How could cost be 115 and you guys are selling it for $130? No way CompUSA markup is that low. Is it worth it? Imagine spending over $100 for a box with pretty lights so your PC can look like your tricked out car. You can guess my answer is no, but if I had an extra $130, I'd buy it cuz it does have that cool nerdy factor.

actaully compusa doesnt mark a lot of things up very high, we just get raped by wholesalers. and we are losing money heh compusa is the most poorley managed retailer in america. those $169 maxtor 40 gigs, they are markey up bout 10bucks, and right now we have a sale on wd 30gigs for 99, well cost is 94, and thats why we are losing money heh

You hit the spot. CompUSA is dying because all their managers (yes, all four of them in each store) are jerks. Employees are jerks too, no offense to you. I wouldn't go there if I had a choice.

Do anyone have one, and is it any good? I was going to buy the the platinum for $130 at compusa, but don't know if I really want to get it or not. I was going to show it off to some girls. 🙂

Anyone know if the Platinum has any compatability problems with the Soundblaster Live?

I have the NewQ Gold series & I wasnt aware of the compatabilty problems with the SB Live until after my purchase.
I get static at higher volumes, I'd love to move to the platinum if I can "crank it up"

And I agree, NoOne NEEDS this, but they sure are cool and add a bit of style to your setup.
Ive got at least 4 friends who would love to take my Gold off my hands.

Can anyone post any other information on this? I am really getting into modding my case so this would be a fun thing to add! I doubt I'll get it though since I don't think it'd work too well with my SB Live! 5.1. It seems to only like taking 4 speaker inputs so how would it work with a 5.1 speaker setup?
