NewQ EQ... I have questions!!!

I've been looking at one of those newq eq's for a while, the NewQ 3379 to be exact. Just had a few questions. For those of you that have it, is it really worth it? or just some eye candy. How do the connections work? All your headphones/speakers plug into that thing? Does it just eliminate your sound card? Or is it just an add on to your exsisting sound? Ive got a digidoc right now that I'm going to pull, and put in another system so I need something gadget like to put into that 5 1/4" bay 🙂
 
upon further research it looks like you take the output from your exsisting sound card and run it into that eq, then you can 'tweak' it through that thing, and back out it goes into your speakers or heaphones. Still don't understand the phantom 6 speaker sound it can make from 4 speakers... am I close? or way off?

also, how good does that radio tuner actually work? It almost seems like it would be a waste, I've got a audigy ex right now, I suppose that eq dosenm't have all the other input though...
