As the title says i have purchased a new SSD last November and have not installed it in the system yet cause at that time i was still awaiting for my other system parts to arrive. after getting my GPU and while waiting for my ram and motherboard to arrive i started playing skyrim and well today i finally got down to build my new pc now that i have all the parts. I started by registering all m products and that including my SSD's.

I purchased 2 Samsung SSD's (850 EVO 250 and 500 GB) from amazon, so today when i registered them in the samsung site it said my product is out of warranty? WTF?

I am at loss here and have no idea what to do. I did a rudimentary check previously when i first got my SSD's (plugged them in and checked their status and generally see if they are working) and they were working fine.

What do i do now ? what should i expect ? what is my situation ? the product was Amazon fulfilled so i trusted it to be good. now it says its out of warranty ? Am freaking out as its happening to both of my SSD's

Call Samsung Tech Support and ask them and show them a proof of purchase date. They should have a three or five year warranty from the purchase date.

email samsung support and tell them your problem and you have proof of purchase.

Otherwise contact amazon and let them know what is up, because it has no warranty it fails product description and qualify for a no restocking fee return.

From amazon or amazon marketplace?

That's an important point. Some Marketplace sellers get drives from suppliers where the warranty period began when they purchased them not when you did. If a drive sits in a warehouse for a year then you've lost that time.

This.

I know quite of few people that got a rude awakening when they thought it was directly from Amazon, only to find out it was actually a marketplace seller and their warranty expired.

This type of thing can happen at brick and mortar retailers to not just etailers. Several years ago I purchased a couple Nexus 7s on clearance at Walmart. Well they must have been older because when I plugged one of them in to charge the battery bulged. Called Asus and gave them the serial number and they said sorry charlie out of warranty. In order to honor the warranty they wanted me to email them a copy of the receipt which I had unfortunately lost so I was sol.

It seems you must have picked older module from the shelf but don't worry contacting concern store will surely help you extend your warranty.

Just chiming in to specifically clarify that "Amazon fulfilled" is helpful in terms of returns, since it means not having to worry about a third-party seller not living up to their end of the Amazon-imposed return/refund requirements, but it's meaningless as far as the provenance or condition of the product itself is concerned. It just involves non-Amazon sellers handing over their stock to Amazon for inventory control and shipping, Amazon has nothing to do with sourcing or vetting those products.

It is worse than just "old stock." Too many Amazon resellers are selling gray market product: designed for use by OEM's embedded in equipment, or destined for non-USA markets. In either case, the product may not just say "out of warranty." It may come up as an invalid serial number.

This is why I urge people to immediately check serial number on purchase!

I recently purchased a brand name hard drive through Amazon. Three times. Literally EVERY Amazon source, all of which were "Amazon fulfilled," shipped me gray market drives, having promised new, factory-guaranteed product. All false marketing. Amazon has a real issue on this. (I ended up purchasing from another website.)

At this point, I would say this: if the product is sold and shipped by Amazon itself (or Newegg itself), you probably are getting the real deal. But check anyway.

Buying from Amazon is fine, just like buying from Newegg, Walmart, or any other legitimate retailer. However, problems can arrive when people choose to buy from the 3rd party retailers on their websites.

I've gotten many drives from Amazon (sold and shipped by Amazon), and I've never had an issue.
