Hi,

I have a QX6850, Asus P5Q SE/R, ATI 4870 1GB, OCZ 4GB "1000Mhz" Ram and Vista 64-Bit.

I ran Core Temp .99.2

It shows my frequency at 333.0x6=1998.00MHz. Shouldnt it be at 333.00x9=2997Mhz or 500.00x6=3Ghz? I am going to assume my RAM is running at 667Mhz. It also says VID:1.1625V, what does that mean?

My 4 CORE TEMPS at idle are 47,46,37,38 with stock cooler and some paste brand that escapes my mind. I will be upgrading, soon, to s1283 with OCZ Freeze.
My questions are the following:

1) How do I clock my CPU to run at 3GHz?
2) What are idle temperatures the quads should be running at? The temps noted above seem kind of high to me.
3) I tried searching but cannot find the software to find out at what speed my RAM is running.
4) What software is good to find out my video cards temperature and just the overall system temperature?
5) Should I use a different CPU temperature monitor from Core Temp?

Essentially I just want to find out what temps everything is running at and I want the processor to run at 3Ghz(500Mhz bus and Ram to run at the 1000Mhz rated speed).

Thanks!

If you have power management features enabled it will clock its self back to save power when you dont need it. Second it could be clocking back because of high heat. Try removing the heat sink, cleaning it VERY well with a lint free cloth and then applying some arctic silver.

That's the speed your processor is supposed to run, when it's idle. Start up Prime95, or any other CPU-intensive app, and it will be running @ 3 Ghz.

I can assure you it's running @ 400 Mhz/800 DDR, unless you've changed it's speed in the BIOS.

Those are very good idle temps, for a 3.0 Ghz quad-core, with the stock Intel cooler. Most people have ~10C higher idle temps, with your processor and the stock cooler.

1) How do I clock my CPU to run at 3GHz?

Use your processor.

3) I tried searching but cannot find the software to find out at what speed my RAM is running.

CPU-Z is what you're looking for.

4) What software is good to find out my video cards temperature

GPU-Z.

and just the overall system temperature?

SpeedFan.

5) Should I use a different CPU temperature monitor from Core Temp?

Nope, it's the best for 65nm chips.

You're welcome.

You are on point myocardia.

The CPU freq does fluctuate from 2ghz-3ghz. Idle temps are 48,47,38,38. At load first 2 cores were mid 50s. I assume or hope thats good.
Also you were correct about the ram, it runs at 400mhz,555-18. Grrr.

Should I try to make it run at 500mhz, as rated, and then changed the cpu bus speed to 500mhz x 6 multplier to run it 1:1 at 3ghz?

Also my vid card is running at 70c idle. Is that good or bad? I'm afraid itll hit 90+ at load, i dont think thatll be good.
