Newly bought WD 80gig 7200 8mb already clicking

i just bought the 80gig wd hd from office max 2 weeks ago. Every so often the drive makes a cricket like sound. should i already exchange it or rma it, or wait?

also the "cricket" sounds can last from 1 min to 10 min.

Download the WD Utilities and run them.
It will pickup most problems.

Did you run the diagnostics utility?
If so, did it find anything wrong?

yea, and it found no errors. i ran it without the ide cable, and it still clicks, and wd says to replace it

ok, i must be a complete retard. the clicks started after i installed my drive, but i removed the drive and it was still doing it. i think my fan is rubbing against something. thanks kgbman
