newest gun: CZ 75 SP01 Shadow

gorcorps

aka Brandon
I bought this gun a few weeks back after a friend's recommendation to check out CZ. After taking it out a few times... I think I'm in love. It has all of the weight and recoil control of a 1911 due to the full metal frame, but is much more comfortable to me with even the stock rubberized grips. It also shoots 9mm, a much cheaper range toy than my 45 1911.

At first I didn't think I was going to like the DA/SA trigger and in the back of my mind was thinking I'd need to by the SAO trigger, but the SA shots are so smooth it's not even a problem. There's obviously a decent amount of take-up in the trigger before you find the break point, however I find myself not even able to FIND the break point because once you're there you've fired. It's an incredibly light trigger pull leading to less trigger jerks and some damn accurate shots. This thing can make ME look like I know what I'm doing which is quite a feat. The red optic front sight is also a huge plus. The back sight is just a flat black panel and I may paint a Glock style U around the border.

Now for some pics

CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow (Black Poly Coat)

This new generation CZ 75 SP-01 pistol especially adapted according to suggestions from Law Enforcement, Military and Police communities worldwide with an additional input from Team CZ shooters Angus Hobdell and Adam Tyc.

The CZ 75 SP-01 SHADOW features:

New style sights consisting of fiber optic front and Competition Style rear promote faster and more accurate target acquisition.

Shadow is fitted with a newly redesigned hammer originating from the CZ 75 Champion. This hammer is slightly wider and has modified sear engagement for smoother release and more positive ignition.

85 Combat style slide without firing pin block helps to smooth the trigger pull and improve distance of trigger reset.

85 Combat Style trigger with over travel adjustment helps to remove excess rear ward trigger movement.

Higher cuts beneath the trigger guard and beaver tail enable a higher grip on the gun, which helps to reduce felt recoil and muzzle flip.

Lighter recoil and main springs originating from original CZ 75 Specifications help to create a smoother more consistent action.

Safeties as found on the CZ 75 SA are fitted as standard; these provide a larger surface area for better positioning of the thumb.

Extended Magazine release allows for ease of reach and more positive ejection of magazine under stressful situations.

Fully beveled magazine well, substantially improves speed and ease of reloading.

Pistol is supplied with three 19 round magazines and rubber grips.

This new generation of CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow pistol is designed for Law Enforcement, Military service, Self-defense, General Range Use and Competition.

Not to rain on your parade, but this is just another boring civilian conventional weapon. Why we are not allowed to own destructive devices and advanced high powered weaponry like a full auto assault shot gun or a guided missile launcher is beyond me.

This is America. We should be able to own anything we please. All gun laws should be thrown out tomorrow.

Agreed, I've always wanted an M1 Abrams.

legally owned AKs are in my wishlist.

Very very nice choice. A CZ 75B SAO is on my to buy list but have some others in front of it. CZ's are right there with 1911's as the best naturally pointing guns out there. Very nice guns.

After renting and shooting one, I can safely say I won't be looking to get one... ever. They're fiercely uncomfortable and I didnt' care for the rack/slide system at all. It's sweet they can stand up to so much abuse and everything, but unless you need that reliability there's so many other things I would take before it.

Shot it again tonight.

I love this so much. It's so smooth that I even get giddy when I reload and send the slide home. Didn't soot it as well today, but still well enough.

I have an EAA Witness... same CZ-75 design... Love it... Fits my hand better than anything else at the time I bought it and has enough heft to it that firing it is nice compared to the composite frame clones.

I want a P01 so bad. I have been relying on my OC Spray and knife. I figure sooner or later I am going to wish I had a gun.

My wife is a literal 'care bear'...she'd try to cook a home invader some food as her first response.

She is very afraid we will have to use a gun one day...unfortunately she doesn't grasp not having one could be a problem in that and even if someone dies over it; it's better them versus you.

I concur. At some point I may get one just to have one but there are better options.

Post a picture of your paper target 😛

I have the same 45 as you, which gives you a bigger smile after pulling the trigger?
