newer replacement for RX550?

I'm using a 4 year old RX550 low profile video card in my system. Power draw is about 47 watts. Using a limit of 50 Watts, I was wondering if AMD has come up with anything over the last 4 years that gives at least 50% better performance, yet still draws under 50 Watts like this card does? Thanks!

Honestly, if you want low-power graphics these days, you buy an APU, not a discrete card.

The low-end discrete market has been left to wither, by both AMD and NV, although, you might be able to find an (OEM-only?) GT 1010 soon.

low-profile, in a 75-watt envelope, look at a GTX 1650 D5 LP, if they're even made anymore.

You used to be able to put a powerful but low TDP mid-range video card like a GeForce 1060 in an HTPC and get good gaming performance.

Nowadays, the newer mid-range gaming cards like the GeForce 3060 or AMD RX5700 require a bigger power supply and cost a lot more (if you can even get one).

A 1650 Super is a solid card with really reasonable power consumption and below the magical 4GB mining memory level.

The way to get one is to watch for a $550 Dell, but it, swap video cards and try to resell Dell for $450-$500 as Fortnite machine on Craigslist or similar.

Buying standalone cards right now is terrible.

A 1060 3GB might be something you can find and will also be awesome compared to RX550.

What I've typically done in the past is to buy a low profile Lenovo desktop (I5 or similar) for about $100, upgrade the RAM and hard drive, then find a decent low profile video card pull for about 80 bucks. That's how I got the RX550 2GB. I guess I just figured AMD would have a newer replacement to buy after all of this time went by, for the systems that can't allow more than 50 Watts for the video card. I mean, it has been 4 years - time to update the video card lineup?

Nvidia will still sell you a 710 too! There are 1650 low profile cards but they are pretty rare.

Maybe there will be a RDNA2 based workstation card like you mention, but AMD hasn’t had the momentum to do a full stack refresh for a long time. They are just now finally back in form, but they are also selling everything they make right now. Low end cards are probably carrying the least margin so they must come last...
