newer MS optical mice

there is a new optical mouse my msft that has a refresh rate of 2000 fps vs the 1500 that most have.... does this bring it on par with the high end boomslang mouse?

I don't know about the FPS of the LED, but some of the newer mice have 33% better stickers that may account for the difference in question.

The FPS rating is not from the LED. FPS is "Frames per second". The optical mouse has a CMOS optical sensor (a low res digital camera and a bunch of DSP) that takes "pictures" of the surface it travels on at 1500 FPS for the old mouse and at 2000 FPS for the new one. The LED is only a light source so that the "eye" can see the surface.

you sure it's 2000hz?

i don't think so... they talk about "snapshots" which would be equivalent to a frame.

I think Hz and FPS *of the LED* are comparable with these devices. Please don't confuse this with the overall refresh rate of the mouse to the computer.
