NewEgg's manufacturer info misleading?

I saw on one of the user reviews that the OEM hard drives are NOT covered by the manufacturer, but NewEgg provides their own warranty. Is that true? If so, it's misleading to say "Manufacturer Warranty: 5 Years" on all the OEM Seagate drives, as it's not the manufacturer's warranty, but rather NewEgg's.

Comments? Is the NewEgg warranty OK? Because I'd rather go OEM and save a few bucks..

are they referring to the initial 30 or 90 day warranty what ever it is?

most rmas are done through the seller for the first 30 days, then the manufacturer

I don't know.. a review said that for the OEM drives on newegg, the warranty is handled by newegg, not Seagate. But it says 5 years... so.. I don't know. I suppose I should just ask newegg.. 🙂

You should get a retail model instead of OEMs...
It's because of the word "OEM" that the drive is not going to be warranted through Segate.

Remember when the egg used to link to the mfr product page? That was usefull, wonder why they stopped.

They still do link to the mfr's product page.

It looks like all retail and OEM internal hard drives have the five year warranty.

the mfr's warranty is negotiated as part of the OEM contract - if Newegg says it's 5 years then it's 5 years. Just make a copy of the web page for future reference.
