Newegg's EggSaver shipping sucks

I suppose I've gotten pretty spoiled by Newegg and their shipping times. Typically I get most items next day if it shipped from TN... which is awesome.

On Monday morning I bought some RAM for my wife's laptop... a G Skill 2x2GB kit. Newegg shows the item as shipped from TN, but when I track the order it says "We do not yet have any record of the tracking number you've entered. Please try again later. ", but my order status has said shipped since Monday.

I'm not sure if this goes USPS or DHL, but USPS says "There is no record of this item." and DHL says the tracking number isn't valid... so I assume USPS.

I get the fact that they would like to save money by not using UPS on a small item like RAM, but you'd think First Class with track and confirm mail from TN to MS could be here in 2 days and the tracking number would at least be updated by now to say the billing info was received.

Eggsaver is one of those ones where they don't actually ship it for a few days depending on their backlog. Most shipping services will not display information for a tracking number until it actually reaches their hands. So there can be a few days between your order being "completed" and it actually going anywhere and showing up in the shipper's system. Amazon's free shipping is the same way. It can be a week before your shipment even gets out the door.

Thanks for the info... I googled the shipping # and it came up as USPS.

I suppose I learned my lesson with EggSaver shipping. When they say 3-7 days they actually mean it... unlike 2-3 days with UPS usually coming in 1 day. I imagine I'll shop around next time I buy an item it's offered as the free shipping method.

Hope it wasn't DHL. They just laid off 9500 people.

Yeah I am pissed at well. I live one hour from Memphis and my orders were usually two days tops, now they are a week easily! Just the latest order went from TN to KY, and maybe to me in AR.

I'll join the complaint crowd. Got a "Your order has been shipped" message from Newegg last Friday, along with tracking number. Number showed as no information/not valid Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. When it finally showed up on Wed, the package that was shipped from TN going to FL was now in Cincinnati! It started out 500 miles away and is now 1000 miles away. I have no idea where it is now or when to expect it.

I suppose I could chalk it up to you get what you pay for, but I've ordered things many times from many placesthat had free shipping and never experienced anything like this. :(

It is not like it is hard.

Sometimes drivers will enter wrong exception codes to cover their asses. Rather than admit they blew past the place and didnt go back, they enter a check address code. Blame the lame driver.

Not really trying to complain here, but just rather give people a heads up on EggSaver. I've never had any other issues with newegg and have spent a small fortune there in the past few years.

My package is in KY now...

Date Time Location Details
11/13/2008 6:32 AM ET HEBRON, KY, US TENDERED TO USPS
11/12/2008 6:16 PM ET HEBRON, KY, US PROCESSED
11/12/2008 2:21 PM ET HEBRON, KY, US ARRIVAL ORIGIN DHL GLOBAL MAIL FACILITY
11/11/2008 4:30 PM CT MEMPHIS, TN, US PICK UP

My order was marked shipped on November 10 by 12PM CST.

Yep, mine went from Memphis, TN to Hebron, KY to my house in AR. Not the most direct route, but I suppose you get what you pay for when you choose free shipping.

My package is in PA. Been there for 2 days. Ordered it monday and will get it tomorrow. Yeah, the egg has slipped but at least mine wasnt sold from UPS to DHL to USPS like the last few packages. What really pisses me off is that the shipping wasnt free. I used to get free shipping packages in 1-2 days. This eggsaver shit is BS.

So you're complaining about the inferior service you got with the lowest rate shipping that you chose? You get what you pay for. Or in your case, you haven't got what you paid for :p

I get what your saying. Newegg typically has had a lot of free shipping methods in the past that usually arrive very promptly. EggSaver is not the case.

I would like to offer my opinion of Newegg.

After more than 10 years and close to $20K in purchases, I've ceased doing business with them. In fact, today I closed my Newegg Preferred Account. No kidding...literally about two hours ago.

I almost always keep my comments professional...but in this relatively anonymous forum, I will say this:

Dear Newegg,

I've been a LOYAL customer for about 10 years now. I've happily paid $10-$30 more on big ticket items because of your customer service. The few times I received a defective product, your RMA process went smoothly. Your shipping was always very good.

But lately, you've become a fat, lazy, overfed wife that has stopped cooking, cleaning my house and taking care of business.

Your shipping has sucked royal moose nuts for about a year now. 25 pounds of product in a single box calls for a single piece of tape holding the whole thing closed, according to your shipping department.

You've since stopped replying to emails sent to your customer service department. I'm not talking about the "initial reply" to the customer. I'm talking about the "I reply to you that I'm not satisfied with your answer" email. Those go unanswered. All three of them. And the phone support? Nonexistant. Nobody picks up. And when they do I get redirected and redirected. Long distance is expensive, buddy. I gotta pay for my phone calls!

When you actually throw me a bone and give a "$10 credit for my trouble" you won't refund that to my Newegg Preferred Account...no....I have to buy something else. And deal with the crappy shipping department again.

Guess what? I paid off my account yesterday and closed it today. At your convenience, please note you've lost another customer that made you who you are. Thanks for rewarding my loyalty with a spike-toed-boot to the nuts.

Sincerely,
Michael D

I assumed the eggsaver shipping would take a normal amount of time to arrive, like most other retailers that use USPS for shipping, so I never thought about complaining about it. I find that Newegg is pretty amazing with their UPS turnaround and 1 day delivery time for me on 99% of purchases. I think we've all been a little spoiled. And one of the reasons you see aggressive shipping on many hardware sites is BECAUSE of newegg.

The solution is to not order with eggsaver shipping anymore, or, make sure that the free shipping being offered on small items like memory is in fact ups 3 day.

I've spent lots of money at newegg and I will continue to do so.

Not all of Newegg's customers live in the lower 48 states. Their shipping outside of the lower 48 is ABYSMAL.

As others have said; I'll get a "your order has shipped" email on Monday and the tracking number won't show any activity for 3 days or more. After a few years of observing the time b/t when my order "shipped" and when I received it, I've concluded that Newegg flat out lies about shipping.

When it takes 9 days for the box to get to it's final shipping point, there's a problem.

I used to be NE's biggest fan; and that's why my ass hurts so badly. I really feel like I got screwed but good, sans vaseline. Multiple times.

And THAT'S WHY I vote with my wallet. <--the most powerful statement of all, period.

Update on my package:

Shipped by DHL from Memphis 11/07 (500 miles north of me)
Goes to KY (1000 miles north of me) 11/11
Goes to Hollywood FL (500 miles south of me) 11/13
Turned over to USPS 11/14

So, basically, after one week, the pkg that started 500 miles away was still 500 miles away in a different direction and now had to go through the mail to get the last 500 miles.

Pkg, which weighed 2 oz total including padded envelope arrived 11/17 4pm after traveling 2000 miles through 2 carriers over a 10 day period.

While their shipping is problematic, their customer service is not. Just got a message that they are refunding the money I paid for the items.

I'd like to add that I got my package on Saturday and have received a credit I can use with my next order. Excellent customer service on their part.
