I would have said use CC or PayPal. :roll:shrug
I've never had a single payment problem using them.

All you can do is document your communications, keep in touch with Newegg, the post office or maybe cancel and reorder.

There is a 21st century world out there and it has to be taken into consideration.

I would never send Payment anywhere unless it is to an individual recepeint, or by pre-addressed envelope/slip like utilities and Credit Card companies do.

Why? Cause between the way USPS deliver mail and the way Big organizations accept mail through general mail room, there is over 50% probability that it would never get to the right hand, or would get there by the next century. ;)

There are issues in life that are Not a matter of Right or Wrong but rather a matter of self adjusting.

As a general example, if one insist to use a horse going to work in a City, One might be out of work for a long time.

Yea, you are right. But this was overnight mailing, tracking, delivery confirmation.

Someone signed for it, they just dont know who and where it is. :(

Lesson learned. Will never send that amount again to a company.

In contrast to this story I would tell you another One.
Years ago a Physician in Hong Kong needed something from me.
At the time I was working at New York University Medical center.

I do not know what got into the guy, he put the request into an envelope, and the only thing on the envelop was.
To: Dr. My name
New York University Medical Center.

It got the letter in my hands all the way from Hong Kong in 5 days. Apparently the people in the Hong Kong?s Mail service figured out that It meant to go to New York USA, and put it in the bag that goes there. When it got to New York the Post Office worker put it into the general bag that goes to NYU Medical Center, and in the Medical Center the clerk locate my specific building and office number according to the internal phone book and sent it to me.

That is a very unusual story in real life you do not have a coincidence that 4 of 5 people down the chain of events would do the right thing.

if you had signature confirmation they are liable for it, have the post office contact them to inquire where your money is.

As was said earlier use paypal. Also you can buy a prepaid Visa at a lot of places. Mail payments for an online transacation, even overnight mail,
are going to go slowly. I assume you put the order # on the memo line of the check? I am sure your purchase will go through they are just waiting for the check to clear. Was it a money order or personal check? If you needed the goods quickly you used the slowest form of payment as companies like Newegg are fully automated.

When I order from NewEgg, I always buy prepaid Visa cards at my local shopping mall. The only minor problem with that is that they charge $2 extra to get the card, and there is a max of $500. I had to get two seperate cards in order to purchase two X48 T2R DFI mobos, at $260 each.

Supposedly if you have a proper/valid Zip+4, your mail will probably get delivered even if there is no other address on the envelope.

For the OP, I wasn't even aware that Newegg took money any other way besides electronically. Hopefully your issue gets resolved quickly, and for future reference there are special stores made just for people who don't want to pay money electronically. Those stores are B&M. ;)

People still use checks?

I literally cannot recall the last time I wrote a check. I do everything by CC (or PP) and even pay those bills online. For small stuff in person I carry $20 most of the time (down to $1 today...time to visit an ATM).

Seriously? Wow. Why not just use a regular CC or PP?

Absolutely! I bank on line and pay most recurring bills by ACH. However, charitable contributions are best done by check. If you have ever had an IRS examination or audit, you'll know why.

One is responsible to the IRS for 5 years. Banks only keep cancelled checks 6 months. Ergo, I also do screen captures (jpg) of all checks, front and back that I might have to produce a year or two down the road. CC payments are often insufficiently described, and are also not easy to find 2 or 3 years back.

OP:

The problem (as mentioned above) is that Newegg is a large company with specific procedures for accepting payments. These proceses are not designed to handle unusual situations like manual payments arriving by mail since 99.99999% of their orders are paid by credit card/Paypal (which is statistically as safe/safer than paying online, not sure what you are worried about).

What happened is someone in the mail room or front desk signed for it, opened it, had no idea what to do with it and probably sent it to the finance department, where they also had no idea what to do with it. Eventually it might end up in the payments/accounts receivable area and be processed properly after a lot of headaches for you. Hopefully you had some type of order #/invoice # documentation with the payment.

Lesson: just pay online, the risk of information being stolen is extremely small and you have protection in those situations.
