You would think that somewhere along the line they would realize that even people with glowing pc's want some peace and quiet too. UV reactive Panaflo L1's are a long time overdue 🙁

Umm... go to Panasonics Panaflo Axial website and take a closer look at the model numbers. The fan size IS IN THE MODEL NUMBER!! 12M means nothing more than it is a 12v model. The model number you meant is: FBA08A12M1A.

Heres the model numbering scheme, readily availible, here, on the Panasonic website.

Example: FBA08A12H1AS
FB -> Motor Type (FB: Panaflo DC Axil Fan)
A -> Bearing Type (A: HydroWave, K: Ball)
08 -> Housing Size (04, 06, 08, 09, 12 -- size/10)
A -> Housing Thickness (A,T,G,F)
12 -> Rated Voltage (DC)
H -> Speed (L,M,H,U [increasing] & V for variable)
1 -> Terminals ( 1: with, 0: without)
A -> Lead Wire (A,B,C)
S -> Option (S,Z,X,0,1)

These are explained further on the linked page. Hope this helps you sort through the model number confusion and buy the fans that are right for you.

Yesi know but they are saying its size. I know thats its voltage also. However a 12meter fan.... probably wouldn't fit in most houses.

Not exactly true. Some fans are having their model numbers exchanged.

H1a = 12H
M1a = 12M
L1a = 12L

And vice versa...
 
Be aware that these seem to be the supposedly louder Chinese Panaflo fans. They are reportedly not as quiet when under volting compared to Japanese models.

god I hope your kidding, if not that is the biggest hunk of BS I have heard of in awhile. Thats world capitolism at it's best I guess.

Unfortunately, he's not kidding. From some random testing done by various SilentPCReview readers, there's a general trend for the "Hecho en China" Panaflos to be louder than the earlier Japanese-made versions. The quality of the Chinaflos seems spottier than the Japanaflos, with the Chinaflos being prone to more and louder "clicking" noise, especially at lower voltages. Start scrounging around for those quiet ol' Japanaflos, kids!

I ordered a 120mm Panaflo from Directron.com on friday, since they are in NJ (i am in southern NY), the fan arrived next bussiness day 🙂

On my Panaflo, it says "Made in China from Japanese Parts."

Now that i have added to the confusion...
I ordered the fan without leads, so when i opened the box i immediately hooked it up to a 12v battery. By running it in open air, i could gauge the noise that the fan makes without the addition of the noise generated from wind resistance. (note: using this or any other fan without a shroud, i.e. mounted directly to a vent, will result in result in massive wind resistance noise)

In my opinion the fan is as quiet as one could ask from a 120mm 12vdc fan running at full speed.

In fact, it is almost completely silent. When places in my case, still not mounted; i had to struggle to hear it from half a foot away... and i dont have a loud computer at all.

Hope this helps! I give Panaflo's two thumbs and two big toes up!!
