Never used ZZF, but when I ordered my viewsonic lcd from newegg, it was packed and ready for shipping within an hour. Ordered Friday morning, recieved Monday morning. 🙂

Edit: ANd I've never had any problems with newegg, when I built my system last year everything arrived without any problems. When I built my brother's system, again, there were no problems. Everything arrived before I expected it and everything has worked fine.

I remember the good old days when everything you bought through the mail took 4 to 6 weeks.
You had to open a magazine (they're book-like objects manufactured from paper and ink cleverly folded and held together with small wire devices they called "staples"(not to be confused with the chain of stores that didn't exist yet)), fill out what was called an "order form", place it in the mail with a check, and wait patiently.
It was customary to start checking the mailbox daily after day 7, knowing full well that the items wouldn't be arriving for weeks. There was a name for that condition. I forget what it was called. Oh, it was called "anticipation". It was fun.

haha, I remember those days! i kinda miss catalogues, they were so great for thumbing through while sitting on the john, and drooling over all the items you wanted. browsing online just isn't the same as thumbing through a catalogue in front of you.
🙁 Egghead

Is there an AT Newegg rep that we could voice our concerns to?

Try the first page of this very thread. He even posted in it and has a link to email him.

I find it easier to search for an item on Newegg. You can sort by chip, size, etc rather than looking at a million things. R

Yes, but I'd rather do a little more work on my end and save a few bucks if I could elsewhere.

Hey Mr.Newegg, how about all members of AT get freeshipping!?

Doubtful they would do that. Have they ever just given exclusive discounts (other than for repeat buyers)?

Newegg is a good etailer. It has 13k orders so.... don't think they can package that fast. 3 Warehouses are not enough....

I would like to extend my personal gratitude to the Newegg.com shoppers in this thread for your support and patronage and encourage you to check your Order Status on our website.

Dear Newegg.com Webmaster,

Please fix your ridiculous multi-item shipping policy.

Kindest regards,
Lazee

Newegg's problem is that it's now plastered all over the place.

Among other places, the whole ostg... Sourceforge, thinkgeek, slashdot.

Once you get that popular, you get a lot more overhead to deal with, and they probably haven't had the time to adapt.

I just emailed Jeff about this, let's see what he says.

Ok, my vote has now *OFFICIALLY* gone to Newegg!!

They contacted me and agreed to refund $10 out of the $12 for shipping... WOW, fast response and overly generous refund. I'm impressed. 😉

sorry to bring up an "old" thread but i figured out something to hopefully get newegg to combine shipping. simply order each item individually. maybe they would get the hint after sending 8 boxes to one person. i am about to make an order, albeit for only 2 items, and i just might do this.

Feels like a repost. I have no problem w/ the Egg. Been shopping w/ them since they started. Fast shipping, great customer service, easy RMA. My orders still get ship out the next day and get to me in 2 days.

ZZF on the other hand feels shady. If anybody remembers, they changed their name some time ago. For what reason? Who knows.

my big complaint with the egg is that their prices have gone up in the last year and their prices seem to fluctuate a lot - especially the shipping charges, which can go from free to outrageous over night.

Dude, ZZF is anything but shady. They are at least as good as Newegg. Maybe they changed their name from a "request" from Google perhaps, possbily helped with a little $$ thrown in?

My problem, and it's not like it's a problem but more of just a concern, is the seemingly proliferation of grey market items at Newegg. Most are easily identified by "This item is non-refudable and only exchangeable for the exact same item." disclaimer attached.

Makes one think the board or card or whatever was really destined for some other overseas market. Now, in most cases this probably doesn't matter much, but if you deal a lot with audio, you have run into grey market goods and the potential warranty issues manufacturers will definitely give you when and if you need service with that part/item that had such a good, low price.

Anyone bored enough to do some price comparisons between the Egg and ZZF? I'm off to class and have yet to be convinced that trying ZZF is really worth it. Their website looks pathetic and eveytime I go there I quickly surf back to newegg.

I ordered an Antec TruePower 430 in the wee hours of the 23rd(2am), and by an amazing 8:21am they had it packaged, and picked up! Thats some hot stuff. Not to mention the fact that not only was it $2 cheaper at ZZF, but they also gave me free FedEx 2 Day shipping(instead of NewEgg's "saver")!

ZZF DFI NF4 Ultra-D,3000+ retail and a Zalman CNPS7000B-ALCU LED is $325.98 shipped
Newegg is $ $349.98 shipped for the exact same stuff

mmm. damage control.

I used to love newegg, until it took over 2 months to get a refund on a item that I returned. I finally had to dispute the charges on the item with my credit card to get them to refund me the money. I spoke with a customer service rep maybe 5 times, all telling me it would be fixed within a few days, none of them fixed it.
