Newegg vs. ZipZoomFly

So, I placed an order at Newegg early morning pacfic time on 1/31. New mobo/cpu/vid card.
I just looked at my status, and it is finally in the packaging state. CC was verified and billed on 1/31. So, it took them 2 days to package the itmes?

Ordered memory from zzf late (after 5pm pacific time) on 1/31, and the tracking number with fedex says I will have it tomorrow (I'm in IL).

I know memory is easier to ship than a mobo/vid card, but honestly, how can newegg be so slow? I should have just given zzf the extra $10 or whatever the difference was, and I would have my parts by the weekend. So much from getting my system back up and running Friday night.

/end rant.

I have recently gone on an Anti-Newegg kick. Ever since I had picked out the antec sonata @ 99.99 + Free Shipping, and by the time i went to order it, price went up to $115 + $16 shipping. Needless to say I didn't buy it from them.

I never have this happen and I've placed dozens and dozens of orders with them mostly for work. Even if they did one or two times their track record is so good I would forgive them.

I just started recently ordering stuff from ZipZoomFly, and they kick serious ass. Haven't ordered computer parts yet, but I will definately think about it in the future.

How is this a rant? It takes time to package and ship stuff. If one day of waiting is worth $10 to you, by all means order from ZZF. Nobody is holding a gun to your head, saying, "order from Newegg or else."

Unless it's dire, I can't afford it. Being a poor college student has its downfalls.

I switched to ZipZoomFly last year. Newegg is overpriced and slow. I get my stuff in 2-3 days with Zipzoomfly.

I've placed many an order with zzf and they have always processed the order, and had it delivered within 4 days. Place on Monday, have by Thursday.
I gave newegg my money this time around just to spread around the wealth. That was stupid.

Zip zoom is formerly googlegear? anyway, i've not had the types of problems you describe generally with newegg. but, more importantly, i have found newegg's service and support to be quite good. I have not dealt with googlegear personally, but I seem to recall their reputation in terms of support being far from stellar.

Hmmm I don't know. I dealt with Zipzoomfly's CS and it was excellent. I ordered a digital camera from them, 3 days before I left for Europe and when I called to cancel my order (I didn't think 3 days was long enough to risk it), they upgraded my shipping to overnight! :Q 😀

Newegg might be swamped with orders. They generally send the next day in my experience. I have also had good experiences with ZZF as well.

I just ordered a replacement hard drive from newegg at 1:30 CST, and fedex had it at 6:30CST. I'm receiving it tomorrow.

The time to pack and ship depends on which warehouse it comes from, and how many different things you've ordered.

ZZF tends to be really slow on thier shipping to me, thier 2nd day air stuff usually takes a week, where neweggs fedex saver (supposed to be 5 days from cali) usually gets here in 3 days from the date I order. unless I'm in a hurry I usually buy from whichever is cheapest alltogether (including shipping) I usually end up with a few things from newegg and a few things from zzf (and sometimes from svc)

Newegg real-time inventory is more accurate than ZZF's, there were a bunch of ZZF rants in Gen Hardware in December - January about ZZF listing items in stock that were really backordered.

Newegg always ships fast to me. Customer service was excellent the one time I needed it.

I have no complaints with GG/ZZF, but if I want something shipped ASAP I'll stick with newegg. If I'm in less of a hurry I'll consider ZZF if there is enough of a price difference.

You're not the only person that finds Newegg slow, it really seems that they've been getting slower over the last 6 months or so.🙁

Between slow and their insane shipping, Newegg is no longer my preferred source for hardware.

ZipZoomFly is great.

Being on the east coast, I go with ZZF because of the free 2nd day shipping.

ZZF sent me a Laptop drive marked as refurb even though it was sold as new. They weren't very helpful when I inquired about the issue... other than to send it back (at my expense) and they'd look into it.

I ended up keeping it because the manuf. validated that it had the full warranty as new, etc.

That's my only issue after ordering from them quite a few times but it does concern me about possible other problems. Still, the 2nd day makes up for it, I'd rather have it sooner than later.

that used to be the case with me. but now, items ordered normally get shipped out in 2-3 days. i miss those days of same-day shipping.

i have had problems with both of them. I jsy received my new MB from New Egg and ended up doing an RMA on the item. Now I am playing the waiting game with MSI RMA dept.

I ordered a camera bag from newegg yesterday, 2/1/05, at 10:31 am newegg time. It shipped the same day (yesterday) and will have it by Friday. If I'm lucky I'll get it on Thursday. Come on FedEx.

Whenever possible I try to order my mobos and memory from Staples and PM to newegg. I got an MSI Neo2 Plat for $80 after working a deal.

I just hate how ZZF will wait a day before shipping no matter when you order. None of my orders from ZZF have gone out the same day.

UPDATE: I will have my bag tonight, Thursday. Thanks FedEx!

Screw Newegg. They want $4.50 to ship one compact flash card, fine. That's not outside normal shipping costs. But then they want $9.00 to ship two of them? Give me a freaking break. You and your per item shipping can go to hell.

Bought from buy yesterday, $5.50 for Fedex ground, getting here today.

Dear AnandTech Forum members,

I would like to extend my personal gratitude to the Newegg.com shoppers in this thread for your support and patronage and encourage you to check your Order Status on our website.

It is uncommon for an order to take more than 24-48 hours to ship from any of our warehouses, so if you discover that your order is an exception, I encourage you to email our Customer Support team or give us a call directly @ 1-800-390-1119. We are always interested in listening to what our shoppers have to say and this would give us an opportunity to review your order.

We view every customer as a customer for life and instill this philosophy in our employees to assure the complete satisfaction of every shopper. We view our customers in the same vein as the AnandTech community, so we of course value the open lines of communication we share with you. Feel free to drop us a line anytime, 24/7/365, to tell us how we're doing. We'd love to hear from you.

Kindest regards,
Newegg.com Webmaster

I have ordered thousands of dollars of parts from Newegg and they ship same day always if I place the order before 12:00 CST.

Oh I never had any problems with Googlegear AKA ZimZoomfly either they usually beats everyones price when it come to retail processors.
