Newegg trying to rip people off?

These things happen fairly often. It has to do with how many they have and when they last purchased them. Their OEMs are likely older stock that they bought at a much higher price. The retails, however, shift much faster because nobody likes buying heatsinks for simple non-OC'd systems.

Who are the freaking idiots who spent the equivlent of 6 months of car payments for me on a freaking processor?

 yes, that's right, newegg is trying to trick you!! mwahaha!

Or, like EyeMWing says, they buy parts and add a markup. They adjust prices as their suppliers adjust prices. Sometimes the price on one part changes more slowly than a similar part, or they don't update a price because they haven't re-ordered yet.
