Newegg Shellshocker: Crucial Ballistix LP 8GB 49.99

I picked up two 16GB kits (2x8GB) of the Sport VLP sticks, and they are working nicely in my main system, though it took a few restarts before the settings worked (dunno why... same settings worked after not working). I got them for $154 (total price for 32GB) though, so this deal seems lukewarm to me.

Although I have ram for my current system, I needed a higher end kit for my nephew's build.

Local thread here

Quoted exactly from my FW post

I actually bought 2 low end motherboards just to get 2 sticks of the 8gb low profile ram.
I got the same ram as a kit for $76.49 (shellshocker+code) on 5/9 now $134. I think it was as low as $64, but those days are long gone. Comparison of the memory.

So I figure.

$68 BIOSTAR A960D+ AM3+ AMD 760G I have a CPU that I can stick in for a HTPC.
$90 BIOSTAR NM70I-847 Intel Celeron 847 1.1GHz 2C/2T
= $158
- $76.5
= $81.5 for the above motherboards.

If you figure $134 for the kit it's $24 for the above motherboards. That's a dozen per board.

I'll use lesser 2x4gb or 2x2gb kits in them since they're not going to be used for anything special. A HTPC and a low power drive server.

The ram is then going to my nephew's new high(er) end build.
