Through all the confusion, what is THE chip now? The 2100+ or the 1700+? I have a killer 1600+, so I'd only be interested if the 2100s that are shipping now can do 2.0. Are the latest Newegg 2100s doing 2.0g?

Quetion!

AMD T'bred CPU could use in T'bred motherboard only & Palomino CPU could use in both T'bred & Palomino mother board at the same time is it right?

Yup, I originally have the Shuttle AK31v3, I found that it doesn't support the tbred 2100+ after I had already bought the cpu. I went out and bought myself the highly raved epox 8rda+ mobo.

Thanks, slikk. I was going to get one of the 2100+ t-breds, but if it isn't going to work in my 8KHA+, I guess there's no sense. I'm not sure whether to be happy that I saved $100 or bumming that I can't have one!

it is recognized as a 2400+ also. i am using crappy infineon pc2100 ddr so i had to drop the fsb to almost nothing. something weird keeps happening tho - the board shut itself down a couple of times and when i restart theres a message that says my cpu and or host clk settings failed and i need to go reconfigure them or something like that. its like there is an overclock guardian in there or something - lol.

geesh i can't wait to get teh cosair tomorrow and hopefully be avle to run this puppy at these speeds with teh fsb in la la land. alright back to the testing bed :) specs below...

Lian Li pc65 - $80 (traded Dell E151fp LCD [$80.00] from hotdeals forum)
Epox 8k9a - $69.00 (hotdeals forum)
Tbred 1700+ @ 2004mhz - $50.00 (hotdeals forum)
Thermalright AX-7 - $FREE (part of LCD / Lian Li trade courtesy of hotdeals forum)
Infineon pc2100 (6ns) - $19.00 (hotdeals forum)
80GB WD HDD - $46 (hotdeals forum)
52x24x52 Liteon CDRW - $29 (hotdeals forum)
WinXP Pro - $FREE (hotdeals forum)

...gotta love this place!!!

:D

If your ram is 6ns, then it's pc2700 infineon.

just got mine today...
TBRED B
Pix will be forthcoming
as promised

Just finished the preliminary OCing... 1.750volts... 2004 MHz 160FSBx12.5. If my KR7A-Raid didnt run out of multipliers... i'd easily be able to go higher....

Going to throw it and a new 8RDA+ in tonight and see how she does... wish me luck!

Dave
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did a fresh install of XP, now running at 13x166 at 1.7v without much effort. Wouldn't boot at default voltage.... Haven't played around with many settings in BIOS, and going to run prime 95 for awhile to see how well it runs... System specs as follows:

Epox 8RDA+
Alpha 8045 with 80mm Panaflo low rpm fan (L1A I think) with AS3
1 512MB stick of Corsair PC3200C2
Elsa Geforce 3
Tekram U3W SCSI Card
Atlas 10K3 18G
Maxtor DM+9 60G
Antec 840 case with Panaflo fans

I will post more once I see how well it goes, and if anyone's interested....

Dave

Edit: Temp seems to be holding steady at 46C while running Prime95 for nearly an hour..... Seems like a nice deal for a hundred bucks.... :)

As for the 2000 mhz barrier issue.....I have 2 of the XP1700 Tbred B chips from Newegg (I love em!!) but I am limited to 1975 MHZ (Recognized as XP2400) 158x12.5 @1.65 xvolts@ 38 degrees because both of my MB's....MSI K7T Turbo2 and an Abit Kt7A can only go to a 12.5 multiplier...1 w/ PC 133 258MB Ram and 1w/PC 150 Ram....just goes to show that decent ram will go a long ways......still wish I knew a way around the 12.5x thing....both have been flashed with the latest BIOS also......

not really sure, but probably not since no one has posted it here... lol. if its out there someone here will find it thats for sure.

i know but its crappy cas3 and it was packaged as pc2100 (super cheap way to pc2700). i dug through the whole shelf before i found a couple of the 6ns packed as pc2100!

doesn't matter now anyways b/c my cosair pc3200 xms came yesterday and i now have this puppy running pristine-like at 12x167 or 2004mhz - woot! not bad for 50 bux! i think she will do more so back to the lab i go...

*update*
not sure what kind of Axp 2xxx+ i have now but this tbred 1700+ has been running for over 2 hrs straight @ 2083mhz (12.5 x 167) with UltrA memory timings... this Tbred B + Cosair combo roXors me soXors! brb... :D

*update*
alright dagnabit, who was that saying the 1700+ tbred b's don't oc well? i have been doing this for two days now and this thing won't quit! heck, i'm wore out over here - lol.

really tho, what was the oc range for the juic stepping tbred b's? it must not be all of them b/c the bios is now recognizing this little gem as an Xp 2600+ (12.5 x 170) @ 2125mhz! can i get a woot! woot! i think i will give in for now as this thing seems like its in it for the long haul :)

current vitals
vcore - 1.725v
vio - 2.60v
ultra memory timings (fastest possible)

temps
epox 8k9a - 24c
Tbred(b) Xp1700+ - 26.5c
