$99.99 shipped for a WD 500GB hdd is what I have my eye on.
Dunno if they'll (500GB hard drives...any manufacturer) get much cheaper the next week or 2.

Dunno, but that's a nice price on the WD 500G AAKS drive. Anandtech reviewed the 750GB AAKS a while back, & it was matching or beating the Raptor in some benches. Sweet....

How's the price to value for both the Intel chip, the 4GB RAM and the ABIT board?

After the amount I have spent on deals in the past month...nothing here is tempting enough to get me to bite.

Well, I bought 4GB of the HP ram that was listed a while back. Ended up paying ~$18AR for it. I don't guess that's a bad deal for the OCZ...not great, but not bad. I got the Abit IP35-E for $69.99AR. While i'm not familiar w/the IN9, the after rebate price doesn't seem bad, but that's a hefty rebate. As far as processors go, ClubIT has the E2160 w/M0 stepping for $77 shipped. Granted it doesn't have the cache of the E4500, but if one overclocks the snot out of it, I really don't think one would notice a difference in performance plus you'll save $42. :)

Yes but the 5000aaks and lower models do not have perpendicular recording as the 7500aaks has; which results in poorer performance. There is a significant difference between the 500aaks and 7500aaks from what I have read

I went for the DVD-R discs. 100 16x DVD-R discs for 16.99 shipped?! That's a pretty good deal, at least for me...

I'm also in for a 100 pack of the TDK DVD-Rs. $16.99 shipped is an excellent price for 1st class media, and NO REBATE.

According to this Wikipedia entry perpendicular recording increases storage density. It didn't mention performance enhancement, though I suppose it could be a side effect.

very true just read some benchmarks, 750aaks is so much faster. I guess a different beast inside.

I considered the frame as a wedding gift -- to be loaded with all their wedding photos -- but I don't "get" the WS feature: it might be nice for a wide Family-Reunion Photo, but how many pix crop well into that 16:9 (10?) shape? Consider how small "tall" photos will be, surrounded by acres of black space. Guess I'll pass.

For me, these are storage drives. Performance means very little.

Good price OP!
