Wow I gladly paid $139 for mine on 2/18. I'd be all over that if I needed a quality PSU. Mine is purring right along.

Probably more appropriate for Hot Deals.

But anyway, great PSU, especially when NewEgg has them on sale for $100-110. Been running one for like a year and a half and it's still going strong.

My only complaint is the raised fan grill causes problems with some cases that are designed for a fan grill that's flush with the rest of the PSU, but not a big deal and not an issue most people would have to deal with.

you know i never noticed the raised fan grill, and i have both an X-650 and an X-750...probably b/c every case i've used since purchasing them has had those slightly raised standoffs built into the bottom deck of the case to raise the PSU up a bit.

The raised fan grill actually prevents the fan filter from being installed in my FT02. Not a big deal, though, just leave the filter off since the PSU fan rarely even turns on anyway, doesn't suck in hardly any dust. :p

But for the vast majority of cases it probably won't cause any problems.

Solid unit. My only complaint is that mine suffers from coil whine.

Avalon yeah I've heard some similar complaints but it seems to be a marginal issue. Are you sure Seasonic won't replace it for you? Mine is dead silent... :E

I think they will, but it's not annoying enough that I want to ship it out and be down for a week or two waiting for a replacement, as I don't have one on hand. It doesn't always do it, so it's alright, and if I'm gaming I have my headphones on so I don't hear it if it does.

Buy one from this deal, ship out your for repair, then either keep replacement as a spare or sell it. :)

Any thoughts on if this power supply would supply enough power to run a Phenom X6 oc'd to 4GHz, 1 hard drive and 2 ATI 4890's in crossfire? As far as I can tell in researching it seems like it would be enough but that it may be pushing it pretty close.

Well crud. I just bought an X-560 last month for $135 at Amazon. Oh well, my old PS was smoking and about to go - couldn't wait for the best deal.

If I was a betting man I'd say definitely as its a quality PSU.

An average system with Phenom II X6 at 4GHz will probably consume close to 250W at full CPU load. From guru3d: "At 4200 MHz (all cores stressed) / 1.55 V we consumed over 250 Watts (peak)." Each 4890 will consume around 190 watts. You're looking at possibly over 600 watts peak, 550W in gaming. This isn't the PSU for you I'm afraid, it'd work but you want more spare watts. I'd recommend a 850W unit - this for $10 more after rebate: XFX 850W XXX

Besides that, it would not make sense to buy a silent PSU for a 4890 crossfire setup obviously. Not that the XFX is loud by any standard, but the X650 is made for systems that have very low idle noise output.

After having to RMA Corsair CX600 V2 (coilwhine) and getting a refund for an XFX 650W Core Edition (malfunctioning fan controller), I got fed up with it and bought a Seasonic X-660. I would have gotten the X-650 to save some money, but they don't sell that model over here. It's an extremely solid unit.

Good deal, but I bought an X-760 for $119 Canadian with no rebates from NCIX (second time it was on sale at that price). Sorry for bragging but very happy with that deal :).
