I recall reading somewhere that Seagate has closed Samsung's factories and is simply rebranding Seagate hard drives as Samsung.
But that's just my recollection so take it for what it's worth.
yeah you could be correct and if you are i would not rush out and get it.
i am still stung from seagates 500 gb 7200rpm 2.5 inch hdds purchased from 2008 to 2009. 8 for 14 failure rate . then 6 for 8 fail on the rmas total of 14 out of 22 bad. dates of aug 2008 to may 2009. since that time I don't use seagate 2.5 inch drives.
to be fair seagate was the first company with 2.5 inch hdds at 7200rpm and 500gb size. no one built one from aug 2008 to sept 2009 then hitachia made them. but the early seagates were terrible i remember a 60000 reply thread on seagate support fu fu fu fu fu fu was the most common theme seagate closed the thread . I stopped with seagate 2.5 inch hdds over that drive.
