Hi folks,

My friend asked me to build a ~$500 computer for him, so I was looking around teaching myself about Sempron. All my PC experience so far has been gaming systems.

Anyway, I came across this deal at Newegg:

http://promotions.newegg.com/AMD/AMD_Biostar/index.html?CMP=BAC-techreport

It may or may not be a good deal (although the 6100/6150 platform is what I'm planning to use) but what chiefly interested me was the way the 3400 and 3000 Sempron processors selling for $125 or $86 in this package are listed as Socket 939 chips (in green, no less!). No other part of Newegg's site, including the product info and user reviews you get when you click those links, indicates that they're for 939, and Newegg hasnt' responded to my question yet.

I know Socket939 Sempron 64 is out there, and that's what I'd like to use, BUT I just can't find it. Anybody think Newegg is actually selling what they claim, or did they just mislabel the product?

Probably a type-o regarding socket 939 Semprons. There's even a type-o in the speed rating of the 3000+. They're claiming it runs at a mere 1.0GHz. :D

I'm gonna call them whenever they open so I can get in the instantly formed 30 minute phone customer service queue and ask in person :) I also saw that 1.0GHz typo.
