Newegg RMAs

How do these work? How do i know if i should RMA it to the manufacturer or newegg? Thanks

If Newegg offers you an RMA via the website (try to do an RMA return through that section), take it. They've always been fantastic in my experience, never giving you any hassle, even in somewhat suspicious situations (like when I returned two identical motherboards simultaneously).

well they charge a 15% restocking fee and half of shipping too. That sucks.

They never charged half of shipping for me.

15% restock only applies when you want a refund, not a new item. They won't cover return shipping, but most manufacturers won't either.

when RMAing, i have to ship the item back, obviously. What im wondering is, can i just write the address they gave me ON the box, or do i have to take it to the post office or a shipping store? That'd piss the f out of me. Thanks

Thanks....guess im screwed. It sucks because i just spent all my damned money building this thing, now i have to pay more to ship it all the way accross the fkn country and back. Guess i'll just live with it for a while.

Better than "we shipped you the product, it's your problem now." Don't complain about a (relatively) fantastic RMA policy. You've got it good--trust me, I've had countless things go bad, and spending 10 bucks to ship it to get a brand new one is far better than the things I've been SOL on after a couple months.

its got to be more than that. i live in indiana, they are in california. the thing is about 10 pounds, and i have to pay for shipping there, and half of shipping for it back. might as well just buy a damned new psu (exaggeration). Thats like 20-25 dollars at least

Who pays for shipping on a defective item?
Newegg.com does not pay for the return shipping of defective merchandise. We are not responsible for factory defects because we are not a product manufacturer and we do not produce the parts we carry (similar to a standard walk-in store). Thus Newegg will split the shipping costs with the customer. The customer agrees to pay to send the item back to Newegg and Newegg will consequently repair or replace the component and ship the item at no charge back to the shipping address specified in your account.

You're only paying s/h one way..and unless it's a case or a monitor, it's not that expensive. Fedex Ground has been the cheapest for large items, in my experience.

Oh, they worded something in the faq wierdly and out of place. Its just one way. Guess it wont be that bad. But still, time and money that i really dont have lol.

I've never had to RMA anything to Newegg, but having to pay half of the shipping back is just rediculous.

no...he is claiming that he has to pay for shipping the item back to Newegg...then he has to pay for half of the shipping for a return item...you only pay for shipping one way.


Newegg has all of these policies in place before you order from them. If you don't agree or like them, just keep on moving to the next retailer...it's not that hard.

I knew what he meant. Having to pay half of the shipping from Newegg --> him, in addition to paying all of the shipping to Newegg.

Depending on how big the thing is, you can use the pre-paid priority box at the post office -- $7.70
