Im thinking of possibly buying a refurb mobo from newegg to replace a dead one i got here....

Should i expect the new one to work? Anything to avoid?

I've bought from them several times for the most part they've been pretty good, but recently I had some problems, they sent me the wrong mobo(EP-8KHA instead of the EP-8KHA+) and I just got a defective Radeon 8500 from them. Check how many of the mobos they have in stock, if it's just one or two it's probably a customer return, but if they have a large # of them, there's a pretty good chance they are totally unused with the retail package.

I'll call tomm i guess to find out how many they have in... Thanks...

You can just add the item to your cart and update the quantity to 99. It'll lower the quantity to how many they have in stock.

I bought a GeForce 2 MX400 64MB and a Rage Fury Maxx 64MB and both worked great. Maybe it's just luck of the draw.

Yea, worth a shot for the awesome price their sellin it for....

It really is the luck of the draw. Most of the items are just stuff returned from people because they changed their mind or whatever and are fine. However, occasionally an item is returned because of an intermittent problem, Newegg's testing didn't find a problem (because it was intermittent) and they resell it.

If you go that route, just make sure to test everything when you get it, even things you may not be using immediately - ALL memory slots, all USB ports, etc.

Time to go try it out... 😀

Now that we're all talking about Refurbished stuff....

If I buy refurb. Dell monitor, will Dell accept an exchange if there are any problems? Or am I out of luck? (there is a 7 day return, and a 30 day exchange from the store. Thats about it).
