First off, let me say that I love newegg as much as anyone and buy a helluva lot of stuff from them. But on my last order, they really screwed up and pissed me off big time !!!

They took all my stuff, threw it in a box, put wadded up brown paper on top, sealed it and gave it to UPS. Well, there were 2 OEM CPU's in the order and as most of you know, OEM CPU's come in a flimsy clear plastic case sandwiched between 2 pieces of black foam and the top is nothing more than a press fit that comes open very easily. No way in hell they could survive a cross country trip via ups without coming out of their cases. They did and the result was bent pins out the ying yang. way too many to straighten so I called newegg and got an RMA.

Only an idiot would think they could have survived the trip intact. Wait, idiots don't think.... Anyway, I hope I raised enough stink with the egg so nobody else has to deal with stupidness such as this. I promised these two builds to my customers in the morning and now I have to put them off till I can get two CPU's in. Bad thing is, these were part of a combo deal so newegg would only refund the portion that was the CPU's. This is less than what I'll have to pay for them now but I have to get the replacements in asap so I have to eat the difference.

BAD JOB NEWEGG. YOU NEED TO BE A LITTLE MORE SENSITIVE TO THE GRIEF YOU CAUSE YOUR CUSTOMERS WHEN YOU SCREW UP !!!!!

Thank you for reading my rant. :)

newegg's packing has blown for quite a while

I've felt this way too, regarding their shipping for OEM HDD's in particular.

Well, to be realistic, their shipping has been very hit-or-miss.

A good deal of it is drawn from which particular warehouse a shipment is being sent from, with them having so many across the US now.

I have a feeling shipping is going to take a drop again, once Newegg goes public. :(

I'll bet their shipping still isn't as bad as eWiz. They put my PSU in an oversized box it could move around in with 1 sheet of paper as padding. Granted my product worked when it arrived......

Lesson learned. The more packaging material used, the worse shape the product is in when it arrives.

Dear Doomer,

I sincerely apologize that your CPUs were not packaged properly. The fact that they arrived bent and cost you time and money is unacceptable.

If there are any issues with your RMA or if you should need further assistance in general please contact me at joshua.l.key@newegg.com

if it was really "unacceptable" to newegg, you guys would fix it. your packaging has gone steadily downhill for a while now to the point where i hesitate to order with you.

and yes, you guys are great at rectifying issues, but why not fix the problem at your facilities?

Dear rise,

You are absolutely correct. If the issues were resolved, they would not repeat themselves. This is exactly why we highly appreciate ALL feedback as it is necessary to be able to resolve these issues. I welcome Doomer to contact me so his issue can be logged and the appropriate parties notified.

I regulary buy from Newegg.
If you'd like, I have several billion plastic peanuts I could sell you cheap.
In fact, if you bring a vacuum you can have them for nothing.

THIS! Complaining to the dude who answers the phone isn't going to get anything changed. It sounds like this guy can at least document the issues and pass them on to someone who cares.

I love the egg...but it really does seem like there was some kind of change with their packaging.

It's not only Newegg. Amazon sent me a Raptor with a blown piece of plastic packaging lol. They have all gone down hill. Of course though it's so that they can charge what they charge instead of having to raise prices.

Amazon sent me some ceramic mixing bowls that were in a "Ready to Ship" box. They put it inside a larger box with no padding (because I ordered one other thing). You could hear everything sliding around inside. When I opened the final box in the box cascade, the bowls were all broken - no padding inside the "Ready to Ship" box and the bowl box only had a thin layer of cardboard to keep the bowls from rubbing on each other.

Quality with packaging has been very inconsistent (again, mostly with OEM HDD) in that there will be a brief period of improvement with the care taken to package said items, and after a while, the problem will re-assert itself.

As I said, when the bottom dollar becomes more important, (when their IPO starts up) expect packaging quality to drop like a rock.

i don't see how the quality of packaging can go down.

I feel you on this...I remember when I ordered my MSI Wind netbook that it came in a box with wadded paper on top, which was OK except there was nothing on the bottom! Meaning that if it were to have been dropped or mishandled the bottom inside of the box was completely unprotected and could have easily damaged the laptop. Now ofcourse it came to me OK, but the fact that the option was there was too much.

I order a lot of stuff from MacMall and CDW for work. Most of the time they're just slapping a shipping label on the retail box now. I know everyone's trying to save money but it seems like the cost of one exchange would cover a lot of cardboard boxes and peanuts.
