Newegg Rant

After more years than I can count of doing business with Newegg, suddenly, an in-person signature is required for UPS deliveries.

I called UPS and they are unable to adjust to my schedule for a delivery. They cannot schedule a delivery after 3:00PM when I am home.

They would like me to drive 56 miles roundtrip to pick the packages up, or miss work to be home for delivery. The other option is to return to sender.

I called UPS and they say it's a Newegg policy, and when I called Newegg, I'm told it's a UPS policy. This is the kind of shit that absolutely infuriates me.

The only decision I have to make on this one is to wait it out and see if one of the delivery attempts falls in a window when I am home, or to return to sender.

While I'm deciding, I think I'll price these items out elsewhere.

I thought they'd leave that little form stuck to your door that you can sign so saying you release them to deliver the package without you being present? Pretty sure this is what they did last time I ordered from Newegg.

Just leave a note with the tracking number saying to leave it at XXX place of your house. then print, sign, and date the bottom.

Always worked for me as the driver does not want to come back. BUT if someone steals it, that on you.

We're both right. Seeing as how I don't which one is lying, it's a Newegg/UPS rant.

My notice says "Signature required for delivery (in person)" And in person is circled.

Your UPS must be anal. I don't have any problems here.

I do know that companies can have polices. Have you tried calling the local warehouse instead of corporate?

edit: can't you schedule via UPS.com?

That's always the way it was in the past for me. And FedEx has my signature on file.

I don't like getting the run-around. I'm filling carts at ZZF and Mwave right now. I'll go FedEx on these shipments. With all the free shipped items at ZZF, I'll be saving money anyway.

What pushed me over the edge was the attitude the girl I talked to at Newegg had. And I was very civil with her.

The only options I'm given are customer pick up or return to sender. Guess which one I'm choosing?

I ran into this a few years back, first with Monarch, then Newegg.

I changed the billing the billing address of one of my CCs to my work address. All deliveries come here now.

Problem solved.

Your UPS guy leaves Fedex's packages? ;)

Something sounds stupid here. Did you even GET one of those notes with the "Sign here to have package left" notes? Call both places again, find out who you are talking to and ask for their direct lines, and have one call the other. Or better yet, three-way call! I'd love to hear a recording of them BOTH saying it's the other one's policy to require a signature.

My experience with UPS has been fine - whether it's luck or not. I really doubt that UPS wants to attempt to deliver the package multiple times. This has to be a new newegg policy. Maybe they're getting a lot of theft reports.

Since the OP is 'newegg rant' and not specific about shipping, I'll share my experience. I have purchased a _lot_ from newegg until recently - didn't even shop around. But a few months ago, I made a mistake in an order and wanted to return the items with others that needed repair. Even though I was technically at fault, I thought that with being a good customer, they would waive the restocking fee - ~$30. They not only didn't but were surly about it. Now after time has passed, I'm no longer upset but rather glad since I started shopping around and, for the most part, have found better prices elsewhere. They've lost _much_ more in profits than $30. Between that and their insulting rebate program, I rarely shop with them.

hell its not even UPS's fault. you say you have it on file you have to sign in person. they are actually makeing you do it. Good for them.

It turned into a Newegg rant when they decided to drop FedEx.

the ops problem is still not Neweggs or UPS's. its his. it needs his signiture.

and last time i ordered from Newegg FedEx was still a option (htye did drop fedex saver though)

Well, after calming down somewhat, I called Newegg back and got a helpful person this time. She called UPS and they were giving her the run around. She had them almost talked into scheduling the delivery for a later time, and in talking to me to confirm that a later time would in fact work, she decided to try a different plan of attack.

She got their commitment to leave the packages with my sig on the back of the original delivery notice. We'll see how it works out. She did sound very confident that it would happen that way.

So calling back was good advice. Thanks to whomever suggested it.

I did price all the items out at both ZZF and Mwave. Neither one had them all. Came to $40 more on a $1000 order. I'll see what happens tomorrow. What concerns me is that the delivery today was for 4 packages. There's a fifth one coming. I'm wondering if the UPS guy plans on playing hardball.

The point here is that they have never wanted a signature before. Suddenly they do. I can tell you want the last word, so I'll let you have it. I'm done with you.
