newegg/pricewatch are basically distributor prices

Well, I'm sure most of you knew/suspected, but now that I work at a distributor, I see what we charge other companies and it's basically the same price you see on the popular places on the net.

Thats exactly why everytime someone posts a thread about how they want to sell hardware online we all say its a bad idea! :D

OS, does the place you work for sell to the public too? Or only to other businesses?

Related question: why do business buy from distributors like the one you work for if they can get the same or better deal at newegg?

I would imagine newegg isn't up to supplying a major company with resale hardware.


Im not sure, but when you buy from teh distro you dont have to pay sales tax right? Only when you sell it to the end customer does unky sam take his cut. Otherwise an item would be taxed 3-4-5 times before it gets to your hand.

I think you have to have a business license and a sales tax license.
