Newegg Price gauging on IPs willing to purchase limited stock Hardware

The price of gtx 1070 is 450$. But if you are someone like me who uses refresh plug in to check for availability every 10secs, Newegg increases the price for this particular IP.

Ex: click the link on the card i am viewing gtx 1070. You will see 450$ tag, meanwhile I have:

If you think $27 is bad, look at airline prices. Clear your browser cookies after searching for flights and before purchasing and in some cases you can save hundreds of dollars. It is so bad, that I usually search at home and then buy airline tickets at work to avoid it.

Is this common practice for other places like amazon and flights? if so it's fucking terrible. If they are doing IP tracking then even deleting cookies or in private mode won't help

Yes. Always browse and purchase for plane tickets in "private" mode. Though I recently booked a trip with United for our family using private mode, and I'd swear that they gotten smarter and are now using your IP address in addition to cookies.

if you dont like capitalism gtfo. If you dont care about having this pos video card day 1 then enjoy your savings.

I'm going to have to assume this was implemented due to competitors scripts harvesting their prices and not directed at normal users who happen to refresh a lot.

Maybe they are charging you extra because of the stupid tool you use to keep hitting their servers. So what?

I use a private browser session through my VPN connection when looking at flights and that kind of stuff. That way you can avoid those scams.

I buy stuff online from work which happens to be in a much less affluent area than my house. I get cheaper prices a lot

I want to know about Amazon too. Someone elsewhere mentioned their neighbor would see a different price and I thought it was just at a different time in the day since Amazon adjusts prices based on competitors throughout the day. To do it by user/IP/account would be extremely shady and cause for bad PR. I am having trouble believing it because there has yet to be bad PR. I also use the wishlist which would be prime for this purpose of price gouging.

It's currently OOS, so by refreshing he will find out as soon as it's available.
Granted there are way better ways to do it not to mention it's just dumb and either way $450 is WAY too much for that.
I'd think that their "Auto Notify" tool might possibly give similar functionality. Maybe.

I tried, but can't figure out what IP refers to here.
I was trying to figure out why Newegg would be measuring (gauging) IP addresses that were willing to purchase hardware.

Price gouging though, that makes more sense.

Though Google Shopping shows very few results for 08G-P4-6170-KR, $450 seems to be cheap.
