Amazon isn't even planning to ship the product out till Monday and it doesn't appear that its out of stock or back ordered. I think its partly because any time I previously used to use their free shipping I would get it within a day or two. Now I guess they really want to live up to their 5-9 business day guarantee. How nice of them.

Was it from Amazon themselves or some 3rd party they are the front for?
ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I have ordered from Amazon directly gets to me faster than any other E-Tailer. Evern Newegg.com

it's been my experience that amazon likes to keep you waiting for a few days before actually packing/shipping the item.
total time for item to arrive is about 5-7 days.

whereas with newegg, my order is authorized within 15-30 minutes and leaves the warehouse same day.
if it's coming from NJ, i'll get the item next day if i order early enough in the morning, and at most 2 days later.
if from CA or TN, it's 3 days.

newegg FTW.

I didn't say newegg was slow. Very much the contrary. I've ALWAYS gotten great service from them for the countless orders I've placed (both for work and for personal use).

I was just throwing in my 2 cents on Amazon, which too has been nothing but stellar for me.

and i'm just saying that newegg has always been faster than amazon for me. and i'm not talking about the carrier getting it to my door.
i'm talking about the processing time, from the moment i hit confirm order, to the time the package leaves their warehouse.

Direct from amazon. This to be precise.

I just got an email back from a rep that's absolutely ridiculous in this day and age.
We ship your order in the most cost-efficient way possible so we can pass the savings on to you in the form of free shipping. This is the reason when you placed your order we estimated your order would ship on October 5, 2009 and would deliver between October 13, 2009 -and October 19, 2009 as the transit time for Super Saver Shipping orders is 5-9 business days after shipping.

3 weeks what a joke.
I wrote back letting them know that because this is their standard policy I plan to move my business to an e-tailer with the ability to ship next business day regardless of the shipping method chosen. Not like my business means much to them anyway.

Sounds like you picked super saver shipping. If not than you get what you paid for...

Ordered 2 Samsung 1 TB HDDs with free Rosewill docks Sunday night, got them Wednesday noon, about 65 hours.

Yup, I did pick super saver shipping and do understand that it's their policy and that's fine if they want to work that way. My point of e-mailing them was to provide feedback and express my dissatisfaction for the policy.

Anyway, I just got an e-mail back from amazon saying the upgraded my shipping to standard free of charge. In no way did I ask for that so it's pretty nice of them. Still now I know for next time at least that amazons free shipping is useless next to a company like newegg who wouldn't hold your product for a week regardless of the shipment method chosen.

Update: Newegg kept me waiting for 2 days for a tracking number. More digging showed that the item was de-activated (sandisk fuze 8gb) after I ordered it. They never told me that, I had to look up the item number. I asked for store credit so that I could just order a refurb of the player (which is in stock) - they refused and said that I would have to wait for a refund to be issued back to my card. I didn't want this because I don't want 2 charges on my card (nor do I want to wait) - I asked for either the refurb or a store credit/gift card. They simply refused and, well, lost a customer.

I've spent over $5,000 with them and they could have easily resolved this by shipping a different item or issuing a gift card. Fuck em, b&h had the same item for less in the first place..

You do know in retail they laugh when you pull the "I've spent over $X,XXX here" line. Then the follow up is "I'm never shopping here again"

See you next week when something you want is on sale big spender

Because I don't want 2 charges, especially since I have another outstanding Newegg refund from 2 weeks ago. I'm just going to go to best buy while they twiddle their thumbs on this refund as well...

IT's two charges, but one of the charges is going to go away. . . What's the issue?

Because it's more stuff to keep track of. I hate keeping track of things because refunds sometimes don't go through - the mistake may be chase or the original transactions, but I just don't like dealing with customer service. It's easier if they just gave me store credit so I don't have to worry about a refund not going through..

Anyways, I'm just going to go to best buy and buy an MP3 player.

You're such a little pansy crybaby. It's probably better if you just stop breathing and choke on your tears.

You are pissed about customer service so you are going to BEST BUY? That doesn't seem right.

Ha, I would go to Circuit City if they were still in business 🙂 Besides, I've never personally had a customer service issue at Best Buy, but I'm sure others have.

still better than Amazon:
4 days to ship it out.
And then they use USPS! FULL OF FAIL!
Still waiting for my refurb Kindle ordered on Sept 23 - not it's Oct 2!.

i forget that you can't bash newegg here. Hell they can rape a 13 yr old and peopl ewould defend them heh

Update #2 The reason I didn't want a refund was because I didn't want to have to keep track of Neweggs refund procedure, since they routinely "forget" to reverse charges. I called Newegg last week about an old charge for $29.99 for a canceled order, and was told (again) that the refund would be applied within 3-4 business days. They claimed that they tried to reverse the funds multiple times and that the bank somehow rejected the claim.

I saw, today, that the $29.99 was still on my card so I called chase - they were awesome and conference called newegg in on the call. Newegg said, yes, the order never shipped and that they attempted to issue a credit on the 24th. My bank said "then why isn't it showing up? Our records do not indicate any attempt made." Newegg's rep got defensive then said, again "you'll see the credit in 3 to 4 days."

Chase recorded the conversation and gave me the credit right away, but it all sounds a little fishy.

This last order, the one that the OP is about- it's still listed as CHARGED, even though the order was supposed to have been canceled. I'll have to deal with that next week.. Argh
