I like Newegg, but only if I can get a better deal on what I might want to consider purchasing. Sometimes I have purchased items from www.directron.com. They offer testing on certain items for a small fee and are both a retailer of computer parts and a custom build shop. Sometimes their prices are a little higher.

When ordering items try to pick items with the best or no shipping costs. This might mean going with a different case. Sometimes if you just wait a while you can find something that will go on sale. For instance maybe father's day will bring a good sale. I suggest signing up for their newsletter. Sometimes they have sales info or coupon codes in the newsletter.

I think a key point is to be flexible and not be stuck on buying one specific case if another case is on sale with free shipping. Shipping a computer case can cost over $15.00.

New egg is a big company with multiple warehouses so naturally the ship from multiple warehouses. Often even an order from amazon is dropped shipped from another store. Amazon frequently is using their name to sell stuff for other companies. They get more traffic by selling things at amazon. When it comes to TV's amazon has a tendency to mark them down quite a bit.

With Amazon trying, or actually doing it in some cases now, breaking in on NE's turf the answer is, 'buy from who has it the cheapest at the time of need.' I love NE but I'm not brand loyal or in this case store loyal. Same component? I'll buy from whoever has it cheapest on the day I plan to spend. Simple as that.

I have ordered computer parts from vendors through Amazon and the package it was shipped in had Newegg printed on it. And the invoice had Newegg printed on it too.😱

The best thing to do is price check various places known to sell what you want/need for your computer. Where I live the closest retail is Best Buy or 30 miles away is a Fry's or a couple hours away a Microcenter. So sometimes the best deal is online and sometimes it is retail. Nothing beats retail for the convenience factor when you need to return something.

I miss the pc computer club store days.😡 It was a nice place to go and get advice and when you needed something quickly or fixed, it was the go to place for me. Now it is this forum and books. Sometimes an online search and hope the info is not BS. Of course, I try to remember who the targeted audience is and take everything with a big grain of salt.:hmm:
