i think i almost cried when i bought my 8800GT for like $140 bucks, it was the first time good performance had been affordable in years (since when the original geforce series pushed card over $300...).

this stuff is crazy cheap, though.

They're roughly equivalent, but I prefer the dual-slot cooler in the GTS 250. NVidia hardware tends to perform much better on the various distributed computing projects too.

Well, with this being the 48-shader version of the 9600GSO, I'd say that the 3850 would compete pretty well with it.
