I have ordered 3 refurb items from NewEgg: a Gainward GF4, a Leadtek GF4 and an Asus mobo. The video cards both came in white box, not retail, but worked just fine. The mobo arrived completely bare, no cables, manual, CD, USB, back plate, nothing but the board, I RMAed the board without installing it and received my money back promptly. So, sometimes you get retail and sometimes you get bare bones. Just be aware.

the a7v333 i ordered came in a bare box, nothing else, and is pretty scratched up. i found a better deal elsewhere for a complete set....

Well, just tested out my stuff last night.
The Chaintech GF4 was retail and came with EVERYTHING - WOW

The GF3 (regular) I ordered turned out to be a Ti200... it works and all, but was expecting the normal grade GF3's which are a tad faster.
Should I complain?
For $59 shipped, I'm quite satisfied.

So far I'm 7/7 on newegg refurbs

If you mean RMA=exchange, no restocking fee but you pay shipping back to newegg.

The ECS K7S5A I got came in a retail box with all cables, a cd-rom, manual, and the atx backplate... it looked brand new, even the bag looked unopened... but after taking it out there was a blown component near the front panel headers -- the thing actually melted and there were burn marks on the board. A capacitor near the DIMM slots was hanging by one lead too. RMA'd that sucker, hope I get a good board back. K7S5A people, check your boards carefully!

I got a good ATI Rage video card and a good Enermax case though, so I guess I'm 2-1.

It apparently is truly the "luck of the draw" on these things.

I have had mine a couple of days and had only given it a cursory check, but just took it out of the antistatic bag (I received what appears to be a NEW, retail box version 3.1 [anyone know what the LATEST version is?] with all the accessories, manual, etc.). Near as I can tell, mine has never been out of the bag before. I even checked the board with a magnifying glass, and even around the screw holes there is no evidence that it was ever installed.

Contrast this with your and other's experiences...

I have ordered from Newegg several times and will no doubt do so again, but it sure looks like they should do at least MINIMAL screening of the refurbs!

Should have mine installed today or tomorrow so will see then if I was one of the truly lucky ones...

I picked up a MSI K7T Turbo2 motherboard on the first day of this thread. Runs great! Visual inspection revealed a slight black mark near the top of the socket. My guess is someone installed their CPU cooler wrong and the core overheated. They probably thought it was a bad board and returned it, but kept the crappy cooler.

Just received my refurbed MSI KT3 Ultra2R and it sucks. Came in just a Fedex box and antistatic bag and doesnt output any signal through my graphics card. Guess it is going to be RMAed. Not really a good deal when I have to pay for shipping back and wait another week or two without it... Anyone else buy this board?
