I live in Michigan. Minus the processing time. It normally takes 3 days for delivery.

NJ should be much nearer to Washington DC, why would it take 5 days?
Unless you are including processing time?

Nope, it took nearly a week for them to ship my RAM and Ceramique last time I ordered, that left a SOUR taste in my mouth.

I think that plays a major role. More and more things there are marked as nonrefundable also.

$.99 is a small price to pay for the consumer, but it makes NewEgg an extra dollar on each product (assuming otherwise they would ship free). Honestly, $1 isn't really that much money and FedEx is always great. NewEgg ships fast and I normally have my item a day ahead of when FedEx expects. I mean, to get bent outta shape over $1 is just being cheap.

I just last night ordered a mobo, CPU, and RAM from Newegg and there was no shipping. I paid something like $4 more than it would have cost at Mwave, largely because I've had such positive experience with Newegg in the past.

ZipZoomFly.com is one of them. They offer free 2nd day shipping on most popular items and they usually match or beat Newegg's prices. And I'd rate their service and integrity as being at least equal to Newegg's.

No doubt about that. ZZF's real Fed-X 2 day works much better for me as opposed to the super saver option NE uses. I must be in a time warp or a black hole because I have never experienced the blazing delivers most people get with NE. Orders placed with them on Sunday will never arrive before Thursday. ZZF will have the same order here on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

NE has a strong advantage over ZZF due to the product selection, easy search function, ease of ordering and their RMA. Those all add to their success as an e-tailer in the long run. I'll often go with NE simply because it's hassle free.

Email newegg and complain about their shipping prices. I did. Free shipping and good prices is why I bought there. But now that they are charging shipping (even $.99), I'll look elsewhere or buy locally and just pay tax. How about Directron? They still any good?

LOL, so true. Department stores jack up the regular prices on things, just before they have a sale. That way, it looks like you are saving, but they are still making money.

Shirt: Regular everyday price $49

Marked-up "everyday" price before it goes on sale: $79
When on sale price: $49

I've used Directron several times as well as Mwave. Both delivered as fast if not faster for me than Newegg, but I can't speak for their RMA. Newegg is a hot site with many people because they will RMA at the drop of a hat or if a perfect board won't OC as expected. Someone pays for this in the end and this thread is a good indication of who that someone is.

Well after the experience I have had with zipzoomfly this past week I will NEVER order from them again. I have always ordered from Newegg and have never had any trouble with them. Sure there prices may be getting a little less competitive but when it comes down to is an extra $5 or so worth avoiding a head-ache? I'd say so.

Now on to my incident with zipzoomfly. On Wednesday August the 4th I placed an order with ZZF for a Athlon 64 3200+ and a eVGA 6800GT. The only reason I ordered the GT from them is because they said they had it in stock. So I check on the status Thursday and it is in the packed status (which is just fine, the standard 1 day processing), now on Friday it is still in the packed status. I finally receive an e-mail from them literally 1 minute before their customer service closes saying that the 6800GT is in backorder and they should be getting another shipment on Monday the 9th. Ok this kinda ticks me off a bit because they had from Wednesday to tell me it was backordered and waited till then. Now Monday comes and I call their customer service 5 minutes after they open up. I can't get through. I keep trying for another hour, STILL can't get through. I leave a message around 9:30PST. I keep trying off and on throughout the day never able to get through. I leave another message and keep calling till they close. I NEVER ONCE was able to speak to someone other than that dang machine. Later on Monday night I got an e-mail saying they had received an order of the 6800GT and it was now IN STOCK. Tuesday comes, I call and I call and after about an hour of calling I actually get someone. I ask about my order and they say that they no longer have the 6800GT in stock and they don't know when they will be getting another shipment. They ask if I want to cancel and I say Yes. That was on Tuesday around 10AM PST. As of the current time of writing this I checked my order and it is STILL in the packed status. It hasn't been canceled, and I really don't want to spend another freaking day listening to/cussing at the ZZF machine. This is why I will never shop their again.

Its not even the shipping charges...its the fact that the stuff is just more expensive at Newegg then other sites now. Its not by much, but its usually about $5 more on every item...

They also used to have alot of refurbished items at great prices, but not anymore.
I just hope they don't do what wal-mart has done, after they put most of the competition out of business, they have raised prices and are not the same store that they started out being.

NE is good for certain things. MW is good for certain things. ZZF is good for certain things. So on so forth. Just don't put your eggs in one basket. Pun intended:D.

I don't mind neweggs shipping. The one thing I don't like is they charge more for more popular brands. Look at the GTs why is bfgs 500 and evgas is 400? Atleast that's what it was like awhile ago.

Funny thing is buy a 6 dollar cable that costs no more then 1 dollar to ship and get nailed with 4 dollars in shipping or you can go down to bestbuy or a local lan shop around me and they are charging 20 dollars for the same cables...

Considering the current gas prices(and shipping prices as a result), does anyone offer a good deal plus free shipping anymore? I have a hard time blaming Newegg, considering I'm paying nearly $2 at the pump.

When an east coaster wakes up, it's still yesterday for newegg re. their pricing - so it makes sense that the price might change by the time you get home. So we get to take advantage of yesterday's price a bit longer. I know compgeeks changes their prices and daily specials somewhere around 10:00 am eastern. As always, snooze/lose...
. Re. shipments taking longer into DC area - blame homeland security for that one, not newegg.
. I never put all my neweggs in one basket - I'll always comparison shop there as usual along with my list of regulars most of which have been named above and adding monarchcomputer and tcwo.

I only buy from Mwave.com nowerdays. They are cheaper with identical shipping and service. Actually I started with them years ago when newegg was just a pup.

The egg just dittoed mwave site when they first started, advertized more, were cheaper and is a great company still albeit a little more denero.. Some of you guys may remember thier old sites. They were identical.

I remember; we answered a question every week asking if Newegg was a Mwave spin-off. Now the question is if they're an Egghead spinoff. :p
