I ordered all of my parts on friday last week so that I could have it all built by wed-thurs this week. One problem. Newegg sent me an e-mail TODAY saying the are out of stock with the Scythe Infinity cooler. Thats funny, it's listed on thier site for sale for $6 more. See it here. So I talked to 3 different online serice employee's and the best I could get was "Sorry". So I called them, and made a little headway. The guy I spoke to told me he would deduct the difference when I do order. Well that would be ok, if I didn't have a "Load" credit card. So in effect, I have to wait 3-4 days for the money to be refunded and then order it.

My bone to pick is the fact that it IS in stock RIGHT NOW and I have to wait til next week before I can use it on my E6400. They screwed up and should be able to fill the order RIGHT NOW.

Here is the e-mail I got from them:

We are sorry to inform you the following items are back ordered:

Monday, September 11, 2006 7:12 AM

Item #:35-185-027(CPU COOLER SCYTHE USA|SCINF-1000 RT) Quantity:1

Deduct Soamount:51.99 (USD)
Deduct shipping charge:6.13 (USD)
Total deduct amount:58.12 (USD)

Back orders are usually caused by Inaccurate inventories: with thousands of
individual parts, it is possible some inventory counts may be inaccurate. Also,
the accuracy may be correct but our warehouse reports we cannot ship the last
one or two items due to being damaged on the shelf.

To speedup your order process, we have removed these items from your order.
Newegg does not accept any back orders. All back ordered items are refunded in
full and will not be shipped. Your account has been credited full, including
shipping, for all these deleted items.

We would like to suggest you go back to our website and place your email address
on our Auto Notify listing. Once we do get more in stock an email notification
will be sent to you.

Please allow 3-4 working days for this credit to show up with your Bank.

This order will be shipped, without back ordered items, in about 24-48 hours,
except weekends. All deleted items will not be shipped.

thank you for your patience,

Whoa! Newegg came through with flying colors guys! Check out my PM from the newegg support guy:

Thanks for allowing us to assist you, PC Surgeon*.

And I thought that was great....but then this message:

By the way, SO# xxxxxxxx will be shipping via UPS Next Day, however, it probably will not ship until tomorrow, 09-13-06, for delivery on Thursday, 09-14-06.

I hope this slight delay does not cause too much of an inconvenince. If so, let me know.

Thanks again!

-Newegg Support

Guys, I am beside myself with how well they recovered. Extremely excited with thier level of customer service. Shoosh! Wouldn't you be? hahaa

You made the mistake of ordering that giant piece of trash that will lead to the destruction of your mobo cracking in half. Who the fvck needs a 3 lb HSF anyway? The Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 from provantage cools just as well and costs only $22 shipped. /sarcasm

I remember reading on the forums that Newegg has done something like this before when they want to get more money. He ordered a monitor pretty cheap, and newegg actually recalled it during shipping, then marked up the price on the site and then tried to make him pay more to get it back, or something like that. I don't know, I've always had good luck with Newegg. /shrug

Yes I remember this. He waited and called UPS to see what happened and they said it was recalled. Then he called Newegg and they said something about "we have no idea what happened, please palce your order again" and look at that...it went up in price.

Again misinformation as usual.....
There heatsink manufacturers would never put on the market a heatsink that would mess your mobo up on purpose!~!!!

Case in point.....
Scythe had made a all copper Ninja that just blew away all of the competition including there own heatsinks.

You want to know why it dodn`t go to market??

It was too heavy!!

everything you say in reply to someone else selectively omits certain parts of the text. he was being sarcastic because the infinity is overrated. Go look around at some overclocking forums outside this one and there's alot of reports of the HSF underperforming compared to alternatives. Mostly due to the mounting mechanism.

Where would be a good place to look, cmdrdredd? Do you have any direct links? I spent a while looking and I didn't see any major negative comments, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Good luck, PC Surgeon.

My Scythe Infinity should arrive tomorrow. I bought it at Newegg and paid $52 - but bought it on Wed. I purchased it after after looking at the temps - and listening to the noise - of one friend's Ultra-120, another's Zalman 9500A and a third's Scythe Infinity. All were on E6700's on various motherboards.

xtremesystems.org had a thread specifically related to the infinity. A few people there gave up trying to get good contact. Also some people noted their board didn't allow the HSF to seat properly without grinding part of the base so it has room to get around some of the caps and whatnot near the socket.

newegg dude probably hasn't been on since then. You'll probably get something back from him tomorrow when they are back at the office.

How do you listen to your friend's Ultra-120 when doesn't come w/ a fan? Do you know what 120mm fan your friend's using on his Ultra-120?

Everytime I have a problem with Newegg, I call and bitch for two seconds. They will give you a $25 credit towards anything (usually) and if it's an RMA problem I get it upgraded to FedEx First Overnight.

I'm such a whore.

Can we keep this thread clean just incase NeweggSupport comes back? You don't want him to get a bad impression of us...right?

Surgeon, this doesn't have to end badly. Just call newegg in the morning, and tell them that since they have the heatsink you're wanting still listed as in stock, only at a higher price on their site, you've decided to just cancel the entire order. If they tell you that it's a different Scythe Infinity (there is only one), which they almost surely will, tell them fine, cancel my entire order, and I'll order everything on this order from zipzoomfly.

I can assure you that they'll find the error of their ways, while you wait on the phone, and come back telling you that it's all been straightened out. If they don't still operate that way, then order from zipzoomfly, clubit, and whoever else it takes to get all of the parts.
