According to newegg, refurbed items have been tested by the original manufacturer and NOT newegg. I do believe that a lot of these boards are being returned for a lot of issues, i.e. dead cmos batteries. Believe me, as soon as I get a refurbed item I test the heck out of it and make it run for about 300 hours straight. Hopefully, that catches any problems... (darn it, Jerry944t has me all scurred)

I've gotta say that of all the components I could buy refurbished, the motherboard would be the one I'd me most leary of. It has so many parts and things that could go wrong, not to mention how flaky even good motherboards can be, I think I'd rather pay the regular price and get something I knew at least had a warranty.

I Agree, although, I've boughten 1 refurb, and 1 brand new, my refurb has run flawlessly, my brandnew had to be RMAed
They are now $59 shipped!!! i'd jump on this if i had the money

My refurbished A7V333-raid ($39) runs great. No problem at all. Cannot use the 1394 Pin on board, but I threw in a 1394 PCI card.

I think the refurbished Asus boards are indeed checked by Asus people, my one looks new, the AGP slot is not used before.

They seem to be out of a7N8xs but still have a7V8x. I have three of the A7V8X and they have proven to be great boards (but mine all have the Gigabit network). Based on the KT400 chipset means it is SLIGHTLY slower thatn nForce2 shipset (when using dual channel ddr) - but difference is slight. KT400 is very mature platform. Would highly receommend.

Incidentally, who actually needs 6 PCI slots anymore? I just filled the AGP slots of my a7v8xs - they already have sound / firewire / gigabit ethernet / usb 2.0 / serial +parallel raid / etc.

Well, I got mine today and have installed the sucker. The bad news is that it came bare (mb only). The only thing that sucks about that is that I didn't get the bracket...D:

But right now, it's running great. I'm going to burn in the processor for a few days and then start hammering the mb and processor to see if everything checks out!

my a7n8x deluxe came bare as well without any accessories nor brackets.
Installed it and everything went smooth. Performance is SUPERB!!!!! comparing to my Gigabyte KT333. my 1600xp runs at 2000xp with retail heatsink

I have purchased tons of Newegg refurb stuff and only a small percentage is actually refurbed stuff. I received in the last two months something like 7 motherboards that had the mounting tabs completely snapped off. ALL OF THEM!! Now how can you test a motherboard when you can't use a heatsink.......:p
