NewEgg has Raedon HD 4770 in stock

Not really worth it at that price, though. There was a HIS 4850 with Stalker CS for $75 AR earlier today (supposed to be back in stock tomorrow).

yeah, we've seen multiple 4850's for $85 or less and 8800/9800GT's for 75 or less.

quit getting all nutted up over this card.

wowza.....must really suck being you!! $85.00 -- yeah right!! Not at the egg though!!

I did pick up one of the Gigabyte 4770`s.
Mainly because of ther rated power consumption and i do not want to have nto start moving PSU`s from one computer the the other.

This is merely that "new card inflated price" issue that always seems to creep up when vendors can't cards in stock. Im sure this will all be sorted out eventually and the 4770 will return to being an great in-stock deal.

if less than three amps is the difference between the PSU being 'okay' or not, you need a new PSU.

With the 4850s being so cheap I think it is clear ATI wants to move out inventory before they let partners release OC versions of 4770. The Asus TOP 4770 with Voltage tweak is supposed to do 971 Mhz on the core and 1150 Mhz on the memory.

can you read???
What did I say......
I said I do not want to have to start switching PSU`s......I have a PC Power & Cooling 1k......850.......silencer 610 and my original 510 Turbo cool.
The PSU that came with this current computer ias no slouch but its also no PC Power & Cooling iether.

I bought my current build because the price was too good to pass up. plus I didn`t want to build my own PC this time around!

i can read, can you make a coherent sentence?

you just said you bought a 4770 because of something something something PSU. sorry i don't speak unintelligeblenese.

as far as i can tell, you seem to be saying that you have four PSU's that exceed 500w, and i'm saying that the difference between the 4770 and 4850 power consumption (~30w theoretical at max power) is so minute that it should have no bearing on your purchasing decision (or most anyone elses).

30 watts is still 30 watts. The hd4850 is also a hotter and physically bigger card. I can see why so many people want the 4770. Cooler running? Uses less power? Comparable performance to the 4850? I can crossfire 2 of them with my spare 550 watt corsair and still have room for other parts.

30 watts is able to power 2 efficient light bulbs for the entire time you use the video card. I wouldn't sneeze at it. It is significant over a long period. Maybe you make a comfortable living where such things dont bother you or maybe you dont have to pay bills but saying that its so minute, that it shouldnt have any bearing over anyones purchase decision is wrong.

That is at the egg; see zagood's link. And what do you mean by "must really suck being you"? I'm not even in the market for a new GPU at this time.

If you have to think about 30watts worth of power in your budget, you should probably stick with integrated graphics, or get another job instead of gaming.

they do have a mobile version of the 4770. it was the first 40nm from ati, came out weeks before the 4770.

With that kind of attitude I very much doubt anyone would ever become wealthy. Why does wanting less heat, more efficiency in computing and being more environmentally friendly always lead to insults about lack of money? :disgust:

I can easily flip it around on you. Why do you use 2 measly gtx280 on a mediocre motherboard when you can have better? If you couldnt afford dual gtx295's you shouldnt worry about gaming and instead look for a better job. See how relative it is?

Sorry, that doesnt really work. The cost of 2X295s is much more real than the difference in power usage between a 4850 and a 4770.

Not only do the cards cost more, they would use much more power.

The 4850s are frequently lower in cost than the 4770s at this time.

Also, a 780i would offer me no benefits over my 750i. I have 2X 16X PCI-E 2.0 slots, and a.01 vdroop board. Not going to get much better than that for OCing without a pencil mod.

I wasnt trying to be insulting, I was being honest. Purchasing a more expensive upfront 4770 over a 4850 for power saving alone is rather silly. Not that there arent reasons to do it, but I cant see 30w being one of them for 99% of people.

If we are talking Xfire, then the savings with 2X 4770s with regards to aging your PSU seem a little more real.

There you go rationalizing your purchase. See the problem with your logic? If the issue at hand is within your personal comfort zone and standards, its perfectly fine for everyone else but if someone is concerned with 30 watt of unwarranted power use and heat, they're poor or stupid.

Also, less power consumption means it is easier to cool quietly/silently (less heat output). There's more than one reason to want a card with less power consumption. Savings from energy use isn't the only thing.
