So I got online to check my account on my cc and I noticed that a charge for an order from newegg placed on yesterday was on my account.
I havent ordered from newegg in months...
I called newegg they said my credit card was associated to another account.
I informed them I had not placed an order. They closed my account but the item had shipped.
I called my cc and had my card closed and now have a new card on the way and a refund pending.

In short if you have a newegg account I'd check your cc statements and make sure there havent been any fraudulent charges...

Doesn't matter where you use your card, if you use your card online you should always be looking for fraudulent charges.

I don't know how you concluded that Newegg was hacked based on the fact that someone associated your credit card with a newegg account. All you know is that someone got your credit card number, you don't know where they got it from. It's no more likely that they got it from Newegg than from any other source.

They would also need that cvv2 (or whatever) number off the back to successfully make an order.

Had a similar experience with Newegg's alter ego site Chiefvalue.

Is the egg and chief sister owned by the same people?
