Newegg.com's new layout

how do you like it? It feels a lot more like Amazon.com or TigerDirect.com to me. I kind of liked the old layout, it was more dense, more concise.

Yeah, I followed the same link that I followed ten minutes ago, and the new layout is gone. Hmm. I wish I had taken a screenshot or something.

Sure you weren't at Amazon or Tiger Direct? LOL

I like the NewEgg site and I hope they don't make it more like the Tiger Direct site, which I don't like. I hate having to re-sort all the time because they are always trying to get me to buy the Featured Items.

The layout was longer, and flowing. They had the product up at the top, with the price on the right, and it was also displaying the percentage off (of the list price), making you think you're getting a deal.

The seperate tabs, for product specifications, reviews, etc., were all on the same big page, along with an Amazon-like section that says what other people purchased after viewing this item.

The combo specials had a big banner just below the product itself.

Whoa you freaked me out. I love the newegg layout probably more than any other layout on the internet... plz to be not changing it newegg.

Worst site ever is Buy.com nowadays. Talk about hard to use! I don't know how you even buy something there anymore.

I remember buying at Buy.com in '97 when they first opened. The deals were amazing. I made $10 profit on every Diamond Stealth card I purchased. They were $10 with a $20 rebate, as I recall. The cards were useless (worse than that, the drivers would trash your PC), but ten dollars profit is ten dollars profit.

I really like Newegg's (current) site.

I *really* hope they don't go screwing around with the format, which is perfect

Newegg - DONT TOUCH IT. LEAVE IT ALONE. ITS PERFECT. YOU CANT IMPROVE ON IT. YOU'RE JUST GOING TO MESS IT UP

Didn't Newegg do some site redesign a couple of years ago? My memory is kinda' vague on this, but I recall something.

But, yeah, Newegg, don't mess with it! Please!

I don't like it. I feel like I have to scroll around too much to find the same info.

EDIT: It showed me the new layout today and this morning, but it's back to the old one now.

It has one huge flaw. I was poking around at the new Logitech mouse today and it was sold out. Well, normally it has an auto-notify button there so they'll tell you when it comes in.

However, as of this time, if you check the link you will see no "Auto Notify" button like the other design has. You can get around this obvious flaw by simply adding it to a wish list, where it will display the button for that OOS item.

There have been items with no auto-notify button forever.

I've never seen an OoS item that had an estimated arrival date with no auto notify button. The fact that it has one when you add it to a wish list shows that there is quite possibly a flaw. I'd look for other OOS items, but the harder part for me is finding an OoS item 😛.

EDIT:

I knew this one item would be OOS... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220704 ... and this one actually has an Auto Notify feature on that page (where I'd expect it to be). :hmm:

I'm not saying that it isn't a bug, I'm just saying that it has been around for a while. 🙂

I only seem to get it when I click on e-mail links they send. I hate it. I like a nice compact layout, and this one takes up too much space. I don't like having to scroll down to get additional information.

Just saw it after seeing this thread. Already complained through feedback form. it's not just that it's a new design, but that it is a vastly inferior layout. Today was the first time I've had to scroll down the page for anything in years at Newegg.

It's a strangely vertical design at a time when PC monitors are virtually all wide.

I do not like it!
At first I thought my internet connection has died on me leaving the page unfinished loading.
Then I refreshed the page again.
Then it dawned on me that this is the new Egg look which sucks!
The old look has more of the compressed feel for it and you could see everything you were looking for.
The new one is like where is everything?
