wow,mine absolutely rocks.
no problems at all once i ditched the 4in1's
im getting killer frame rates in all my games and over 8200 on 3dmark2k1.

i guess some of you know it.
Epox actually is the same name brand in Hong Kong (or other asia markets) as "2themax"
They had a upgrade program sometimes. That you can return your old board and buy a new product with some discount or add-on.
Well, my last "2themax" socket 7 board died a few years ago.

In a way it is sad that they are no longer going to carry the 8KHA+, I think they were getting a lot of boards back with nothing wrong with them from what I have read their was a lot of user error and misunderstanding, The FF erorr, I have heard of people sending it back over that even though it isn't a erorr, They all run with FF, Thinking it would over clock to 150 and up with a locked processor, Looking at the bios chip to see what was marked and if it wasn't N+ sending it back when that had nothing to do with anything just the date code of the bios, Setting the bios wrong and on and on, It is one of the best KT266a board on the market right now

The Soltek Sl-75DRV2 according to tomshardware is the best thing right now.

Need more info or sales.

My contacts are below

<< Pabster: What power supply did you use with your 8KHA+s? Bet it was an enermax. >>

Don't tell me there's issues with an Enermax PSU now...I was gonna buy a 431W enermax with the dual fans from newegg. I was all ready to buy my stuff and now i find problems have arised 🙁

<< What would be the next best KT266A board (Non Raid) available right now? >>

If the 8KHA+ is known to have issues among the common ppl, I also ask the same Q as above...

I`m using the 431w with my Epox 8KHA+ with no problems(4.98v on the 5v rail on average),I know somebody else with the same setup he too has no problems 🙂.

Doomguy:

I don't utilize Enermax these days. Antec 400W is the standard. That said, I used a wide variety of supplies. Sparkle, PCP&P, and even Enermax ... 😀

No, I don't "sell" computers. I've been testing several KT266A boards over the last month-odd. In that time, I've been through 5 different 8KHA+ mainboards. I've been testing to see if the "hype" was really all it was cracked up to be. Not surprisingly, it isn't.

Well sh1t on me. I just ordered an 8kha+ on Wednesday, then noticed on Thursday that they didn't list it in the catalog anymore. The board just arrived today, but I can't test it because my Athlon XP isn't due to arrive until Monday (My order was shipped in 4 separate boxes, two arrived today, the others I am assuming will arive Monday....seems odd as they were all shipped the same time on the same day). Anyway, guess I'm SOL if it has problems. Nazi bastards at FedEx don't ship Express Saver on Saturday....:disgust:

Glad I bought an Abit now.
Abits quality has improved greatly since last year.
All you Abit bashers can go fly, I built two Epox systems last month nd they were allso very good.
It's too bad companies rush the motherboards out just to hit demand, they can ruin their reputation quickly as it spreads like wildfire on the Internet.
I still prefer Abit because of softmenu 3, but Soyo and others are doing it also now, so maybe next one will be a Soyo.

Heh, I've always considered myself a blessed guy, everything seems to go my way. Got an 8KHA+ to work right the first time once I got a 400W Antec. I guess I'm just extremely competent, or extremely lucky, probably a combination of both. Seems like I'm in the minority here, but such is life 😀 "Hype" is only "hype" if its performance is unachievable, unattainable or over-exaggerated. Just because these results were unachievable FOR YOU , doesn't mean the board fails to live up to the "hype". Those boards probably didn't boot b/c they felt the bad karma; its obvious from your post that you expected negative results from the outset....at least you weren't completely disappointed. 😱

That being said, its no wonder that NewEgg stopped selling these boards. Just look at the number of posts here from new system builders with 2 or 3 total posts asking which board to get and from where. Lately, its been "Get an 8KHA+ from NewEgg!!!" They buy the mobo, don't bother to look into some of the nuances of setting the board up (apparently, from all the b!tch and moan sessions, it is a difficult board to set-up for novices). They fire it up, it doesn't boot, and they RMA it. Along with the help of others on these forums, 8KHA+ users have contributed to getting the topic of a thread from

"OH MY GOD 8KHA+ SUCKS ASS IT WON'T BOOT UP!!!"

to

"OH MY GOD THIS MOBO OWNZORZ AND IT IS SO GODDAMN FAST I LOVE IT!!!"

I don't mind, its fine if less people buy this board, doesn't hurt me in the slightest.....its like being amongst the chosen "elite"...par for the course 😛

Just to get on the record, I'm an extremely incompetent computer builder that had everybody and their brother helping me assemble my computer the beginning of this week. That being said, my MB is working great and I'm having NO problems right now. Yes, it's only a couple days old - but what matters to me most is working great. That is, Tribes 2 smokes, CounterStrike is great, and Tribes 1 is unreal.

So yes, it's even possible for us non-mensa types to get an 8kha+ to work the first time!

😉

I'll pipe in my two cents here: I've built systems in the past, and I'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to just about every area concerned with putting a system together. That's not to say I know all there is to know.

Anyhow, I built my rig in spite of all the newbie posts about the problems with this board, and with enermax ps. Up and running within an hour, no probs, and I even forgot to format my HD before I put the board in. This thing ran, and currently still runs, fantastic. Nothing short.

I'm even using a 300w power supply that alot of nubes point to problems to.

Maybe I just got a good one, but I doubt that there is anywhere near the amount of bad boards that people would make it seem. I mean come on, 5 different boards? I dunno...

Another one for the troll list.

I'm only repeating what I was told by NewEgg over the phone earlier this week.

wow you people claim one motherboard is better than the other like u actually own stock or something for ur specific company

Ill go back to gaming on my 100% sis735 board for 3months with no errors or problems. thanks

built 2 pc's so far usin the HA+ plus a dinky generic 300w ps...

all is good, they both run great, even doin some slight over clockin'.

after readin this thread i called my buddy who works at a very popular OEM store... HE said he hasn't seen hardley any EPOX mobos come back for RMA, only ones from folks who were inexperienced over-clockers and heard this board can turn the pc novice into a full blown overcloking god.

If the board was as bad as it was made out to be here, I'm sure there would be a lot more threads off unhappy folks and EPOX would be lettin us know.

Make sure yer info is 100% real before spreadin' nasty rumors bout everybodies mobos. The customer serice guys will say anything sometimes to keep a conversation friendly and flowin...

Newbie? As far as motherboard installations go, guilty. But I got a newegg 8KHA+ and I very carefully followed the directions. It failed to post. I turned here for advice, assuming user error. I tried everything suggested over 2 days and to no avail. The last set of tests involved having the mb out of the case and on an insulated surface (to see about a possible case short) and having just CPU/HSF, RAM, Video and keyboard connected. I tried different sticks of RAM and different video cards (even PCI). Unfortunately I only had one CPU, so I couldn't swap it.

Anyhow, the advice I finally got was to leave it like this (out of the case) and powered on for 5 minutes and see if anything was warm. Everything was in fact cool to the touch, and so the advice I got here was that it was indeed a bad mb and I rma'd it. I hope to get an 8KHA+ back, because I want to be sure it wasn't in fact user error.

But I can tell you that I read everything several times, waited two days before attempting the install, used a wrist strap and was very careful about everything. The HSF wasn't touching anything but the core, I didn't have any extra brass standoffs in my case and I checked my configuration and the seating of things several times before turning on the power for the first time. And I got zilch - no post.

I'll make sure to report back if I get an 8KHA+ working. The one terrible mistake people make in forums like this is to report their problems but then go away once they have everything working. So we end up with lots of problem reports. At least I feel a little less newbie-ish with this experience, so I suppose that's an arctic silver lining

jaeger66, What's with the name calling Dude..... Do you want the mod's to lock the Thread because of YOU.
