Newegg.com ripped me off for $186!

I had a RMA for a motherboard and a stick of mushkin ram. The dam Epox
motherboard kept giving me a C1 post error, which is something about the memory stots or the ram itself. So I send the motherboard back with the memory wrapped up in bubble wrap. Guess what, some moron apparently chuck out the bubble wrap thinking it was a packing material and they claimed that I didn't send the memory. I paid $186 for that fricken mushkin memory and now they say well I don't have proof so I'm out of luck.
If this can happen once, it can definitely happen again to someone else. I would not do business with these guys for the rest of my natural life.
thanks for letting me vent

dude relax, newegg rocks your ass off! but there are always people that are going to get hossed, you can't expect 100% customer satisfaction. Have you talked to a supervisor? emails a nice detailed letter to them, letting them know whats going on. instead of venting here take some action.

Were they expecting the memory? If not, IMO you're totally at fault.

So, you had the motherboard in its box, and the memory wrapped in bubble wrap taped up or rubber banded, and peanuts or other packing materail to fill out the box and when they unpacked it the tossed the ram? Well, I suppose it could happen, I always put everything, even ram in antistatic bags, or a seperate small box and mark them, but since they ship things wrapped in bubble wrap, I suppose it's acceptable. I think I'd continue to bitch though..............did you have the pacackage insured for the value of both??? Not that it will matter, but you could show them that you insured the package for the price of both then..............

Does suck, but, I suppose it's a lesson to be sure and mark each item you are returning and even though they ship in bubble wrap only, if it would have been in an antistatic bag, this probably wouldn't have happened..............:(

NewEgg is OK in my book though, everyone can make mistakes...........I think I'd keep trying and be persistant, but yeah, there are other good online stores out there................just beware ANY of them could have made the same mistake................;)

Sounds like a 'moron-at-newegg' issue who was in to much of a hurry to think about what he was doing. He said he had an RMA for both items so the guy should have checked better.

I'd be pissed too - its their fault and they want you to pay for their mistake. :disgust:

Each item should have been shipped in its own box with the RMA number written on the outside like Newegg advises.

Agreed. I've also received items from newegg that were just wrapped in bubble-wrap. If newegg can do it, then so can its customers.

IMHO, of course..

You know, I think it would be kinda hard for someone to just "throw out" RAM wrapped in bubblewrap thinking there's nothing there. I wouldn't be surprised if a Newegg employee stole the memory. I'm not accusing anyone of anything though..

This is a tough one. I have spent quite a bit at newegg and never had a problem. However, you should follow their RMA rules and use seperate packages. BUT, you sent the RAM back JUST like they have shipped it to me. I had to dump out a large box full of packing "nuts" :) to get a 512MB stick last week.

Try a stern, but polite request to speak with a manager about the issue. If that does not work, talk with the CC company. I am sure that this is not the first time newegg has encountered this problem.

Just remember in the future to follow the company return policy to the T

Newegg and Googlegear are the two main stores I go to for parts.

But I have to say, this "Newegg right or wrong" attitude so often expressed here every time a person has a problem with them is just crap. Some folks act as if they own Newegg or have a vested interest in them. People, if Newegg messes up don't blindly defend them. Doing so will only further erode their customer service.

dispute it with your credit card company

Yeah, do that.

It's very hard to get the CC company to work on your (consumer) side unless it's American Express...

trust me, i tried it w/o any luck...

I want to say that Roxanne at Newegg has come through for me and said that there crediting dept will issue me a credit for the ram.
Now I want to clear some info from the responses I got.

1.I did get 1 rma number for both items and it did not specify that I ship the motherboard and ram in separate packages.
2. I don't believe someone at Newegg stole the ram, just chucked out the bubble wrap thinking it was just packaging material.
3. When I received the ram from them from my purchase, it was in a plastic shell the size of the ram and I had to dig for it to find it.
4. I did talk to their supervisor twice and did not get any results, basically they said I had no proof that I sent both items.
5. Next time, I would list the contents boldly on the outside of the box, listing exactly whats in the rma box. This was the first time I had to rma anything to newegg.
6. Thanks for all you responses, good or bac.

was any of ur items refurb? i had a refurb IWILL XP333 from newegg that literally caught fire and melted my samsung ddr module. maybe that's why they switched to 15-day warranty and in big bold letters "LIABLE FOR PRODUCT ONLY" not to mention they admit they do no testing on refurb items and its ur own risk

I've done it several times over the last year and haven't had a single problem with my VISA. They always reverse the charges with very little questions asked.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no. RMA number is just to tell them that it is a package that they are expecting, and where you fill it out online you can put as many items in the RMA you want from any particular order. I ended up doing 3 items at one time for my 'big' computer. One of those was memory too! However i did use the little white box they sent the memory in too though...But I just RECENTLY got it working and i had ordered everything in the beginning of JUNE. It still runs hot as hell though :(

Well I only got the good news after I sent them that I would post my frustration on forums such as Anandtech.
I'm trying to edit the title to this thread but keeps giving me message saying I'm not the author of the thread.
Maybe one of the mods can do it.
