Just piecing together a build and I noticed Newegg got rid of the ability to search by chipset, socket and several other features for motherboards and etc. Even the "Power Search" doesn't give you the option, to narrow down a search. They use to have it set-up otherwise, this is annoying!

**Update** 11-19-13

Appears Newegg corrected this issue, hope it stays this way.

Wow, this is true, Newegg is trying to make their search much worse, to be like Amazon.

Now you cannot filter motherboards by socket type.

WTF were they thinking? Newegg is going downhill, RAPIDLY.

Edit: Trying to find 1150 ITX boards by keyword search, and that's borked too!

LUCK YOU NEWEGG.

I suspect that some people complained about too many options on the satisfaction surveys and then Newegg decided this was the way to implement changes. Fill out the surveys and complain about this "downgrade" the next time it pops up. .

They haven't changed guided search on www.neweggbusiness.com/‎ (yet).

Seriously, you can't even narrow it down by memory capacity on their main site anymore. Apparently 14 days ago they removed the Advanced search option. And now they have ruined the guided search option.

Amazon's search is also terrible, yes. My guess for that is they think people don't know what they want and if they look at more products, they'll buy more stuff that they didn't know they wanted, and since they saw it, they then purchase it. Newegg used to be fun to look around at. Well, it still is, but it's more trouble.

well, they could have put the easy search option for those people as default, but leave the existing search hidden somewhere for power users

sigh...

It's making filtering painful, they list the Southbridge but not the Socket or Chipset for example on mobos. Try to pull up 1150 Z87 mobos and compare specs, not as easy as it use to be.

I have been on Newegg everyday the past month, my wishlist has been changing since mid October, I didn't notice the changes till a few days ago.

Also you cannot add Combo deals to your Wish list, not sure if that's an old one. I know they spam the hell out of me for things sitting in my wish list.

And if you try to go shopping for a wireless router, it won't let you filter by protocol (11n, 11ac, etc.). That's the number one most important spec of a wireless router, and it's gone missing from the filter?

Either they have done something unimaginably stupid, or there's a bug that's eating their filters...

I noticed that Newegg changed things a while ago, but didn't see how grabasstic it was. They use to have memory speed selection and size, etc. Now you can't search for memory like that anymore. Good thing I bookmarked my parts before this grabass change. Just like Firefox it's going to hell!

:\ Count me in as another disappointed customer because of the search options.

Why would they do something to limit and frustrate their customer's shopping experience?

Somebody at NE that doesn't know what they are doing making changes. Get enough people complaining though and I bet they'll change it. If they start losing sales over it they'll change it real quick I'm thinking. So complain loudly and often to NE.

Only recourse is using PcPartPicker, but that's not a good thing for Newegg because it shows the lowest price often it's not with Newegg.

Seems like messing up a good thing is standard practice with a lot of online companies.

i think its because newegg is trying to be like amazon and facilitate mails orders...

Hence having only 1 vendor partners parts being looked up on search all the time wasnt fair even tho that item is hot cake.

I buy from Newegg very seldom anymore, mainly because of the restock fees for PC components if you have to return something. Amazon's prices while still not always the best have dropped enough to be competitive. And nobody beats their return policies. Most of the time they'll send UPS to your door with a prepaid shipping label.

This. It seems like they chose a completely random set of attributes for the filter. In what world does it make sense to be able to filter on Southbridge and not socket? Mobos don't even have southbridges anymore!

Here's hoping that it's a bug.

Some of the search filters have been removed. For instance, when one is searching for DDR3 desktop RAM, you would have the option to select capacity sizes and look for them. Now, that search option is gone.

Same goes for SSDs. The ability to search for them based on capacity is gone. When searching for CPUs, the filters to search for them by generation are gone unless you type the name, let's say "Haswell," into the search field.

This is/was a great thing about Newegg. The ability to search for something was excellent. Let's see if they bring it back.

Say something. Email them! If enough do, they will fix it. Get the consumer rules. But only if they speak up.

I think that TigerDirect, and Directron.com (remember them) are going to get a lot more of my biz from now on.

Newegg basically took away the ONE BIG THING that made Newegg a special place to shop, and even to check out the newest technology hitting the streets.

Bully for them. Maybe a few more noobs will buy something that they didn't intend to, but all of the pro / semi-pro builders will go elsewhere for their clients now.

I'm not very good and making petitions, but I sign a ton of them from change.org. Maybe someone could make a petition? And if anyone does that could you make one for Starbucks to bring back Irish Cream syrup too? LOL :D

NO PETITION NEEDED. What is this, some kinda ad hoc support group of victims of PMS seeking solace via group hugs, pounding pillows and sharing tissues?:sneaky:

U guys R wasting life minutes and not being normal, pro active consumers. Stop being like deer in headlights, do what is normal, USE THEIR CONTACT BUTTON. Try to be civilized, not ENRAGED; tell them U R dismayed, disappointed and why. LINK THEM TO THIS THREAD.

Is any of this normal unclear to you big, strong guys with the cutting edge systems?

By the way, can't remember the last time I write ro articulated a complaint. But when I do, I do it with clarity, class and erudition, and trust me, it gets results no matter maybe nobody else complained. And I am size 2.

Also know, I mainly, with intense joy celebrate excellence, most recently, an RCN rep I got on the phone. I celebrated her to HER, then said , 'Hook me up with yr supervisor!!!" She did, and the Supervisor was just as fabulous. I said, X was sharp, clear, focused, knowledgeable, personable, and U have to get her a Ferrari!. If a company spent more time and money vetting they who have first contact with members of the consumer base than they do on slick ad campaigns and smoke and mirrors, this would be a glorious life!

She said, I wish more subscribers did what you are doing. I said, I do it cause excellence brings me happiness and celebrating it INTENSIFIES that happiness, and to me, that is just normal.

True story. And no way the first time.

A petition would work a lot better since it would get far more support by a wide audience rather than us dorks complaining in this thread. How many complaints will get here? 7? 10 at the most? A petition will net at least 50,000 signatures and then that would say Newegg, change the freaking search back to what it was.
