I they actually list stock amounts. And require an EIN, though I belive you can use your SSN for the EIN

Isn't there a risk for using your SSN for the EIN?

I have a small ebay business. I buy parts and mod macs. I do a schedule c small business.

To start a newegg business account you need an ein a 9 digit number.

If you have a social security number it can be an ein.

I use my social security card for my ein.

If you are honest and do a schedule c for ebay sales you would be fully and

completely entitled to open a business account from newegg.

If the world of gray appeals to you. Here is gray.

I think I will start an ebay business doing sales and mods to pc's. Oh look newegg has a deal for business users. I will open an ebay seller account and a newegg business account today to start my business. Well I will do the newegg account first because I want to be sure I can get a good item to sell put in a mac mini to sell on my ebay account.

Go ahead and open the business account order lets say the mushkin ssd like I did and once you get it. Start your sales business.

If you start an account based on my world of gray above you would be legal.

to rockinacoustic good!

as for the question of is it a risk to give out your ssn for an ein .

the answer is yes, but newegg has my ssn as I have a credit account with them.

I purchase 5000 in parts a year from them for the mac mods. Basically any owner of a business can apply. A small car dealer a barbershop owner a lawnmower landscaper etc.

If you just give your ssn and are using the gear for personal use only and not for a business you would be legally wrong. At least this is my non lawyer non qualified guess.
