$1200 for 4gb vram headroom? No thanks.

The 980Ti is just better. The fact that we sit here and debate it is just silly. Like, I have bought 2 rounds of AMD cards. I'll probably buy a third. The 980Ti is still the best card out. Now below that... I'd pick AMD every day.

Pretty much, the way it goes right now is, if I want to buy AMD, I recommend a used R9 290.
Or two if you need more HP. If you want Nvidia? A GTX 980Ti....

That's a problem for AMD when the only competitive chips they have are at the lower price ranges and that the used market is obliterating their chances at selling new chips with many used R9 290s on EBAY for sale, on craigslist, etc. at cheaper prices than the GTX 970.

AMD needs to have a definitive high end chip winner, and that's impossible with gameworks. So, I really don't see how AMD can win the high end unless they stomp out gameworks. Otherwise, they'll always be a great value option.

And the trickle down effect of a high end win is real. Nvidia knows that. That's why they like to have the fastest "SINGLE" GPU chip.

The business market requires reliable drivers significantly more then it does a few fps in performance. Nvidia simply has the best drivers and has done for a very long time. These days most companies have no need to look anywhere else - you want discrete graphics and reliable 3d performance you buy Nvidia. If you don't care about graphics you just use Intel onboard. That simply is the end of the story.
No number of charts about AMD is going to make the slightest bit of difference - the professional market worked out what it liked many years ago even when AMD were still successful in the consumer market and nothing AMD has done since has given them any incentive to change that. Being as many workstations are now laptops (to enable easy home working) it's not like AMD are even a choice.

While driver quality nowadays may be debatable, I do have to agree that AMD has essentially not even shown up to the fight in mobile. If you need decent graphics in a laptop, Nvidia is (currently) the only choice.

They should have broken down the list government vs private business. One of my relatives works out at Hanford (a government nuclear reactor in Wa). He says they ALWAYS buy the most expensive equipment ..be it computers, printers..etc. Everyone in his office uses I7 desktops with 30" or bigger IPS monitors. All he does is read emails and print paperwork. The more they spend this year means they get a bigger budget next year. So I could see their IT guy looking at the price and not the specs.

You should look in the mirror, before calling an entire nation stupid. One, this is for Newegg business, not the consumer site, and two, do you not understand the difference between revenue and volume? One Titan X SKU was not the 3rd best selling card, it generated the 3rd most revenue. If you visit Newegg business's website:

http://www.neweggbusiness.com/produ...600559418&isnodeid=1&name=geforce gtx titan x

Hey, look, there are only 2 air cooled Titan X models. So a very expensive card that split its revenue among 2 models had a single model that generated a lot of revenue. Totally unexpected. While the 980ti by comparison has 23 models in stock. When looking at the top 5 in volume, only one card is over $430.

reliable drivers? are you stuck in 2010? D: the current situation is 100% opposite of your claim. has been that way for at least 2 years now.

I dont think the business chart in Europe would be much different. Just changes of AIBs involved perhaps.
