Nice deal. I'm tempted to buy it. But I don't need it and am waiting to do a total new build in another generation or two since I'm still running strong on my i7 920

Nice board for sure. I am looking to set up a Tri-SLI system and I like the PCIe arrangement which would allow space between double-slotted cards but the funny thing is, there are no SLI bridges that allow that sort of placement.

x79 is a total waste, no ipc improvement, pointless cores.

Thread crapping is pointless also...

pointless for you, invaluable for me, 4 core just not cutting it for what I need my CPU for

also invaluable for those who need more than 16 PCI-e lanes, ie just about anyone running more than two latest generation GPUs

also invaluable for those who need as much RAM as possible

My Asus GTX 570 DCII (tri-slot) came with a longer SLI bridge that should work pretty well with spaced double-slot cards. See if Asus will sell you just the bridge?

One thing I never liked about open box items from Newegg - especially the Asus - is that it's just the board and nothing else.. IO shield at minimum would've been good.
