For my relatively limited needs, I'm liking the looks of this monitor at that price quite a bit, but am also a bit put off by the lack of any sort of online reviews, in English or, for that matter, any other language.

For some reason known only to Amazon (and perhaps Asus), when you do a search on VC239H, both Google and Amazon's own search function give you links to an Amazon product page, but it's for the, apparently much older, model VS239H-P. Comparing the two on Asus's site, they're obviously quite different monitors, though both have, I gather 8-bit, 23" IPS panels. Will definitely have to give this some serious though over the next few days - Newegg's price is good until the 10th...

Looks like a lot of reviews here, but in Dutch...

Thanks for pointing out the number of reviews. For some reason, Google Translate renders that page-as-a-whole really badly, so I skimmed past it too quickly when it came up on my own search, and I didn't realize how many reviews there actually were. Went back and started checking them out individually by copying and pasting to GT... I haven't made it through the whole list yet, but so far, no one has anything bad to say about it, though most of the reviews aren't really detailed, either...

I need one, but I see another one 23" ASUS VX238H 1920x1080 1ms (GTG) TN Panel HDMI LED Monitor $119.9. Which one is better?

I'm not at all familiar with the VX238H, but unless you have a particular need for its 2 HDMI inputs (and can live without DVI), or you really need or want the super-fast response time, in general I'd say any IPS monitor will be nicer to look at than any TFT panel within the same broad price range. For what it's worth, some of the reviews I've looked at so far on the Dutch site, referred to above, were written by people using the VC239H for for gaming with no complaints who say they haven't had issues with noticeable ghosting.

Also fwiw, do note that the $119.99 price you mention is for a refurb on Newegg, with only a 1-year warranty from "MTC" (whatever that is) vs a 3-year warranty from Asus on the new ones. Newegg has new ones for $159.99 after a $20 rebate, but Amazon also has them, for $125.77 after rebate.
