Newegg and restocking fees

I recently bought almost $1,000 worth of parts from NE and had a streak of bad luck. I had to RMA one piece and repurchase another. This time I may RMA a video card I bought (for a refund). From your own experiences does NE charge a restocking fee or not? I checked their website and saw mention of a restocking fee but I was not charged it the last (only) time I had to RMA an item.

Please share your experiences (good and bad) with RMAing video cards to NE (for a refund). Thanks ...

According to the website a 15% restocking fee is supposed to be charged on all returns, even defectives. An exchange may be different.

As long as you call them to perform the RMA, theys have ALWAYS waived the restoking fee...for me at least.

yep, they waived teh restocking fee for me last time i called

and they even refund you return shipping cost if you fax them receipt of the proof of shipment

yeah it seems like the waive it off if you call them... if you do it online... you get hit with the 15%... 😕 weird.

I always email the customer service and ask for waiving of 15% RF and they do.

Thanks for all of your input. I bought a video board and am VERY disappointed with it's performance. If charges a restocking fee I would be out almost $30. I will try calling and seeing if I can get the restocking fee waived. I was unaware that they would refund the shipping charges. Their website clearly states thaey will not do this. I had to RMA a MB a few weeks ago, talked to a CSR and while I was not charged a restocking fee (I repurchased the same model MB)I was not offered a shipping reimbersement.
