Newegg + 7900GT = NIGHTMARE

OK, so I've been giddy like a school girl since Thursday when I ordered my new PNY GeForce 7900GT. Lastnight I clean my system out, disable SLI, and run the PCI-Express power. All ready for my new card. I get an e-mail this morning saying it was delivered to my dads work, so on lunch I went to pick it up. I see the box from Newegg sitting on the counter, waiting to be opened. I open it, and what do I see?

A PNY.

A GeForce

A 7600GT!

They even charged me for one and it was also on the receipt inside the box, but no 7900GT to be had. Now I have to go through the process of RMA and it wont be another week until I'm running. That's not to say don't buy from Newegg, I've done a lot of business of them, but this is really unacceptable. They are humans, I suppose. So no overclocking. No gaming. No benchmarks. Just 6600GT performance for the next week. I'm disapointed to say the least. Also, I've never done an RMA so I have no clue as to how to do it or how long it will take.

Edit: An to add insult to injury, they are out of stock!

Are you kidding me? 7600GT would be better compared to an overclocked 6800GS, way better than a 6600GT.
 
Man, I hate it for you. I know exactly how you feel too. When I ordered my 2005FPW from Dell, they sent me a 1905FP by accident. That was so lame... Why don't they ever screw up the other way, like a 7900GTX for you and a 2405FPW for me...?

Newegg has really good service though, I would imagine that they will do the best they can to get you the right card as quickly as possible.

Nope. They won't cross ship. Once they recieve my card they will be able to overnight it, but that may not be for another week.

Edit: Comparing computers to death isn't reasonable. So don't try.
 
Ugh... That definitely sucks.

Maybe the Newegg CSR that's a member here will see your post and help you expedite a resolution.

They should reimburse you for shipping since it is their bad.
 
Just wait. You have your whole life ahead of you to find out what nightmares truly are. Just so you know, this aint one of em.
 
nightmare? i don't think so

my watercooling setup once leaked water onto my 2 months old 6800 gt which i purchased when it first came out

and i think everyone knows that water + 6800 gt isn't the best combination 🙁

would you expect anything less from newegg? I hate it for the guy that newegg screwed up but thats really rare. I would assume they would be paying shipping back considering it was entirely their fault. They are a quality company.
 
I am looking forward to mine getting here, ordered Thursday but UPS is taking forever and a week to get it here, despite the 3 day service....
