newdotnet3_36.dll ...

I reinstall Kazaa now that morpheus isn't working and used Adaware to get rid of the spyware, but I can't get rid of newdotnet3_36.dll because it's always in use. I can't seem to figure out which service/program is using it so I can't figure out how to delete, and I don't have any spare diskettes to make a quick 98 bookdisk to get to the prompt and delete it.. anyone know what's using it?

This is spyware. It automatically loads when Windows boots. You running Windows 98, right? Run MSCONFIG, go to the startup tab and uncheck the box which loads this file. Reboot windows and you'll be able to safely delete it.

BTW, if you need a Windows bootdisk go to bootdisk.com.

Let me know how you get on.

Win 98 - press F8 during post and go into MSDOS mode, delete it there
Windows 2000/XP - take the install CD, boot into the recovery console from the CD, and delete the file manually once again.

There, problem taken care of.

Using 2k, I just snatched a 98se bootdisk(good enough to get to the prompt 😛) and deleted it already.. thanks tho.
