Ok - awake again but no time to work on computer right now. However would like to respond to ED and HOWITIS.

try putting in a floppy boot up disk and try agian sometimes this helps

I did that, and it simply told me non-system disk error - the standard one when a disk is in the floppy.

do you have the master/slave settings correct on the drives? if you have a cd and dvd you need to set one master, the other slave just check the manual for directions.

Nowhere in my EPOX manual that I can see does it go over the BIOS in-depth. I'm really not sure at all of what the master/slave settings should be. I would love to find an in-depth overview of BIOS.

What I can tell you is even though I tell it to boot from the CD, and even though it begins to read the CD, the darn thing always tries to read from the floppy. Even if I unhook the floppy from the cable it still tries to read.

I've got to get to work now, but if anybody has any thoughts please post them and I'll be responding this evening PST. I really appreciate it.

is your floppy LED light consistently on? if it is... this probably means that you plugged the IDE floppy cable into you floopy drive upside down. I have an EPOX board and for some reason, I have to plug my floppy IDE in the reverse way compared to most motherboards.

Also, even if you do get a floppy disk fail message, you should be able to press "F1" to continue with the booting process. You don't need a floppy to have a good running computer.
