Hey guys!

I'm thinking of joining TA in the SETI race.
But i've got a question and i'm too lazy to sieve through the FAQ 😛

1. Do i actually have to upload the output? or is that automatically done by the computer?

Anyone has the link to join? Too many threads in here and i'm trying my best not to get confused. Really not very adept with this thing.

Does my internet connection need to be running at all times? 😛

Despite the fact i do get cable and it's pretty much on all the time. But i'm asking for my bro who's on dial-up.

In that case install with SETIDriver so he'll be able to cache Wu's and then send them when he s done by dailing up.

As for you and the connection, use one of the proxies so you'll always have a external cache of Wu's should there be an outage.

Er.... not too sure what u just meant
But i joined anyway!
I followed all the instructions that were given in the link 😛

Welcome to the TeAm! 😀

The way the SETI client works is that it downloads one work unit from the Berkeley servers and after analyzing it, automatically uploads the results and downloads another work unit. If your internet connection is down or the Berkeley servers are down or you aren't dialed up, then the client will just sit there doing nothing, waiting for a connection to be established.

A program like SETI Driver will cache work units locally on your hard drive. In the event of an internet outage, or someone on dialup, once a work unit is complete, it'll move on immediately to another work unit and keep crunching until your connection is back at which time it'll upload all the results and download new work units to analyze.

I hope that made some sense. 🙂

Woohoo!!! Another computer assimiliated!!! Another step closer to number ONE!!! 😀

EDIT: Welcome aboard dopcombo!!! 🙂
